Does Dialectic Grease Conduct Electricity

Question:

I have a question about LubriMatic Accessories and Parts - 11755 Electrical Contact Grease. Is it an insulator and so should not be put on metal where contacts are meant to connect metal to metal or is it a conductor and so could short circuit if a dab of it is continuous between different contacts of a plug? Thanks.

Expert Reply:

Dialectic grease does NOT conduct electricity. It is used on connections to help insulate the metal to metal connection and prevent corrosion by preventing moisture from getting to the connection.
