Does Exhaust Need To Be Removed To Install Trailer Hitch On 2016 Maxda CX-5

Question:

Can this hitch truly be installed without removing the muffler? Or is it easier just to remove the muffler? The instructions and a Q and A below says it just needs to be lowered.

For the installation of the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 76138 the muffler is very easy to remove. You just remove the two fasteners at the rear of the muffler and the 2 fasteners on the exhaust pipe going into the muffler and you can get the muffler out of the way while you install it.

As the instructions state, you can lower the exhaust to have easier access, but I recommend doing it like the installers in our shop show.
