Weight Capacity of Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack Part # SH12B
Question:
Here are some questions about the Sherpa 2.0. The specs say 2 bikes at 40 lbs each. I have a womens style Sanyo eneloop electric bike that weights 50 lbs. I assume my husbands bike would be around 30 lbs. Will this work? Also, does it secure the bikes womens style as well without rattle or stressing the frame? Does it lock in TWO places, BOTH at the HITCH so no one could steel it from the car, AND locking the bikes onto the rack. Are all locks and cables included? Will this work on a 2007 Lexus RX 400h? How easy is it to get on and off the car. We want to always be removing it. Thank you

According to Kuat, as long as you do not exceed the 80 lb weight limit, you should be fine. I would recommend placing the heavier bike so that it is closest to the vehicle. My contact at Kuat said that if the battery on the electric bike is easily removable, taking the battery out might not be a bad idea.
The bicycles are secured on the top and bottom of each tire, it will work great with womens or mens bikes. The hitch pin included with the rack locks, and a locking cable is included as well. This rack will fit on your Lexus, provided that you have a hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver for a 2 inch receiver, use the 2 inch version, # SH22G.
To remove the rack when it is not being used, simply unlock the hitch pin and slide the rack out of the receiver.
