I spoke with my contact at Timbren and he said that the Axle-Less suspension systems such as # A35RS545 can be used on an aluminum trailer frame. He said basically anything that is strong enough (as far as frame construction) can be used. In situations where the trailer may not be all that solid or strong they do provide that square hole on each unit should you need to connect the two sides together for greater stability (not required).

The C-channel frame design will be fine assuming that he open part of the C is on the inboard side and not the outboard side of the frame. If the C opening is on the outboard side you would need to box out the frame by having a professional welder weld on some aluminum plates. Welding aluminum takes skill which is why a professional would be needed.
