Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for a 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 with Mason Dump Body

Question:

Looking for a hitch for my 1998 dodge ram 3500 dually mason dump that is 4wd...it has a gas engine so I am not looking for a lot of towing weight, maybe between 10k and 14k would be good and I also need the wiring. What do you guys recommend?

We have nothing specifically designed to fit the Mason dump body for your 1998 Dodge Ram 3500, but I may have a solution for you.

I spoke to my contacts at Curt and Reese and the only styles of hitches that can be made to fit a service body truck like yours are multi-fit RV hitches like the # 41990 that has a 16k capacity. This is a weld on hitch that would require either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or the 16 inch brackets part # 4916.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 18252.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
