Installation of a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller on a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I had this hooked up to a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I traded this in for a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Dealer removed from 2005 and gave to me in a box and says he can not install so I will have to do it myself but have no wiring instructions. Please help!

If your new 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a 7-way, the wiring harness you can use for the Tekonsha Voyager brake controller # 39510 is the Draw-Tite wiring harness # 20127. The wire splices into your Jeep's wiring. Some models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee require a wiring kit to run wire to the battery. You can use kit # 5506.
There are four wires coming out of the back of your Tekonsha Voyager brake controller # 39510. White, blue, red, and black. White wire is the ground wire, blue is for output, red wire must tap into the cold side of your vehicle brakes and black is power. You will need to use a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to find the red wire. It will be the wire that carries a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed.
The blue wire is for the electric brake controller output and will run to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. If looking at the back of the connector where the wires go, it is the pin in the 7 o'clock position. The black wire must run to your battery to power the brake controller via a 20-amp circuit breaker # 9506P.
I included a link to the installation instructions on the Voyager, an informative article and video review.
