Weight Distribution with Sway Control for a 2007 Chevy 2500HD Pulling a 7,000 Pound Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a2007 chevy 2500HD 6.6L D/A 2- wheel drive and want the best set-up for a travel trailer that has a tongue weight of 1000lbs and a trailer weight of 7000lbs.

For your 2007 Chevy 2500HD and 7,000 pound travel trailer, the Reese Stead-Flex Weight Distribution System, # RP66560, will work. But I recommend the Reese Trunnion Bar Strait-Line Hitch with Shank, # RP66084.
Both systems have the same capacity. Tongue weight capacity of 600 to 1,200 pounds, and a gross trailer weight of 12,000 pounds. But the reason I would pick the Strait-Line system is because it uses dual-cam, pro-active sway control that stops trailer sway before it starts. The other system uses friction sway control that will try to stop trailer sway after the trailer has already started swaying.
I have included a link to an install of a WD system with sway control, a review of Reese and Draw-Tite systems, and one with general information that should help.
