How Far Forward Should Motorcycle Wheel Chocks Be Installed in a Utility Trailer

Question:

I have a 2014 Continental Cargo 7 x 10 tandem axle trailer. As I prepare wheel chocks for loading two motorcycles, Im not sure about placement with regard to 60/40 weight distribution. Should I put 60 of the weight forward of the five foot mark of the box, or since the equalizer is positioned at the 6 foot mark, should I put 60 of the weight ahead of that? In other words should I consider the equalizer position as the balance point?

Helpful Expert Reply:

The equalizer of a tandem axle trailer is not the balance point of the trailer. I would recommend putting the wheel chocks of your trailer as far forward as you can in the trailer. This will help prevent any potential sway that can occur from not having enough tongue weight on a trailer.
