Which Front Mount Receiver for 2007 Ram 3500 Will Not Require Bumper Fascia Trimming

Question:

Looking at the Curt C31017 and DrawTite 65046 it appears that the DT must hang two inches lower than the Curt given that they mount to the same frame member and appear to have about the same offset in the mounting bracket. Is this correct? Also, will the Curt mount to a 2007 3500 SLT 6.7 L Diesel 2WD Quad Cab without excessive trimming of the front air dam?

Your perception is correct. The Curt # C31017 would install so that the top of the receiver tube sits about 1.63 inches (about 1-5/8) below the underside of the frame member of the truck. This means that if your truck has the rubber or plastic fascia, you'll need to notch it. This hitch is NOT compatible with Laramie models.

The same dimension for the Draw-Tite # 65046 is 4-1/2 inches, which should place the top of the receiver tube against the underside of the fascia under the bumper, as shown in the diagram and photo I've provided. This hitch is compatible with all models of the 2007 Ram 3500.

I've linked you to a video showing the # 65046 being installed.
