There are several hitch-mounted cargo carriers available for the 2014 Kia Sportage with a 1-1/4" or 2" trailer hitch. I have included a helpful link to a page that contains all of our available carriers (see link).
If you have a 2" receiver on your trailer hitch going with a 60 inch wide cargo basket like # 63153 would give you the most bang for your buck. This carrier has a capacity of 500 pounds, but you will be limited to the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch and/or the vehicle tongue weight capacity, whichever is lower.
With this basket you could use light kit # 98174LED, which is the LED style lights that draw much less power than incandescent lights. You could then add a bag like # 988501 to sit on the carrier.
For install details and some product demonstration videos, click the provided links.
For a trailer hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver, you can use the similar model, part # 63155. You can use light kit # 98174LED with this carrier as well. To power lights you would need the 4-way wiring kit # 118526.
Another option would be to use an enclosed hitch mount carrier like # Y62VR for 2" hitch receivers. This is basically a cargo box that mounts at the back of the vehicle. The nice thing about this carrier is that it can swing off to the side of the vehicle to allow access to the rear hatch of the vehicle. The box can also be locked for more security than just a bag could offer.
