The linked page will show you both of the light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitches that will fit the 2018 Beetle Convertible, Curt hitch # C11354. This Curt hitch requires you to use their hitch support strap # 18050 when using a static load like a bike rack.

Hitch installation is an easy no-drill bolt-on process which is detailed in the linked instructions. All required hardware is included and the tools needed are listed in the instructions so you can have everything ready for when the hitch arrives from etrailer.

With this hitch in place you can use a compatible 2-bike Class I bike rack, or a Class I cargo carrier.
Since you have heavier electric and mountain bikes there is one particular rack that is a perfect choice for you. Thule's EasyFold rack # TH903202 is an ideal solution for you and for reasons I will happily detail for you, it could be the last bike rack you ever need to buy.

The EasyFold fits both 1-1/4-inch hitches and 2-inch hitches so it will be usable in any car's hitch, even if your next vehicle is totally different from the Beetle, and it offers a weight capacity of 65-lbs per bike. It also features built-in locks for the rack itself and for your bikes, a loading ramp that stores inside the rack (!) and it has a foot-operated tilt release. If all of that is not enough it also folds to compact size and features built-in wheels to move it around the garage.

Please refer to the linked photo and video for more details on this exceptionally well-engineered bike carrier system.

If you ever need to move some heavy items the same hitch can be used with a Class I cargo carrier such as # C18110.
