Will the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Carrier Clear the Oversized Spare Tire on a Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Im looking at the Thule T2 Pro XTR for the back of my Jeep Wrangler with 35inch spare tire on the back. I know I need an extension for the 2inch hitch, but how I do I determine how long an extension is needed?

If you take one measurement on your Jeep Wrangler you can determine the length of an extension would be needed (if at all). Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole straight back to the distance needed to clear the spare tire. Take a look at the help article I have linked that shows the best way to take that measurement.
The T2 Pro XTR, # TH69TX, measures 7 inches from the center of the pin hole to the nearest rail (but only 5 inches when folded up). If an extension is needed you probably would not need a very long one.
We have a 7 inch extension, # HE06, that would likely be all you would need. Please keep in mind that the use of a hitch extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. The combined weight of the bike rack (about 96 pounds or so) and the bikes cannot exceed the reduced capacity of the hitch.
