Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota Camry Hybrid for Carrying Bike Rack
Question:
I read your response to someone interested in using this hitch for a hitch mounted bike rack. Theel Hollywood is out, since I had one in the past and it tore up my trunk and bumper paint. If I go with the Curt hitch it calls for support straps. Are these straps mounted with clips that fit on the front edge of the trunk? I am concerned about damaging paint on the trunk. What can you tell me about the installation on my Hybrid.

I have a solution for you, but since the Curt Hitch part # C12107 requires the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 when used with a non-supported accessory like a bike rack I would instead recommend you go with the Draw Tite Hitch part # 36540 as it doesn't have the requirement. This way you won't have anything contacting any painted surfaces of your vehicle while carrying your bikes.
The tech tips for this hitch install on your vehicle state that drilling is required for installation, exhaust must be temporarily lowered, minor heat shield modification may be required, and trimming or removal of underbody panel required. For more info check out the installation instructions link I have attached.
The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670. This rack has a ton of positive reviews from our customers who have tried it. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
