Can Larger Wheels And Tires Be Put On 2005 Fleetwood Popup With 12 Inch Tires

Question:

I have a 2005 fleetwood yuma popup with 12 inch tires. Would it be ok to go to 14 inch?

You can move to 14 inch wheels and tires but there are a couple of things you need to be cautious of. One is the clearance you have by installing bigger wheels. You will want to make sure you have at least 3 inches of clearance above the tire tread when under a full load (or at max deflection of the spring - max deflection is usually 1.5 - 2 inches for leaf springs) and a couple inches between the inside wall of the tire and the closest part of the trailer. You want to make sure you match the wheel bolt pattern as well.

Changing to a larger wheel and tire combination does not increase the weight capacity of your trailer.

If you want to let me know the size tire you currently have, I can make some recommendations that will possibly work for you.
