Bulldog Collar Lock Coupler and Tongue Jack for Scamp 13FT Travel Trailer
Question:
Currently, I have an A Frame, 5,000 pound coupler on my Scamp 13foot travel trailer tongue weight 100 lbs, trailer 1500 lbs. I would like to replace this with the Bulldog collar lock for A frame trailers, 5,000 lb version. I like the idea of the visual inspection capability to see that the ball is where it should be before towing. Is this coupler significantly longer than the the version I currently have? Ive read that my trailer tongue is 50 degrees, but not sure what theyre measuring there. I just need some reassurance that this unit will fit and weld on nicely to my Scamps trailer tongue before I buy. Also...do you have any recommendations for a new tongue jack? I also have a standard tongue jack on my trailer if I remember correctly, its top wind. Why all the changes? The previous owner of my trailer had a little mishap and the trailer popped off the ball while towing. The tongue and jack dragged on the pavement for a while, and I would just feel better changing the whole thing out. Thanks for any help or recommendations you might be able to make. I appreciate it! Sincerely,

I went out to our warehouse and pulled the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ High-Profile Latch, # BD028384 to get a measurement for you. The neck of the Bulldog coupler measures 8". I have included pictures which illustrate these measurements.
The Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler, # BD028384, is a heavy-duty coupler that offers a tight fit with visual indication of proper closure around the ball to ensure quick, easy and secure hookup which will hopefully keep you mishap-free. This weld-on, A-frame design, coupler mounts to a 50-degree trailer tongue so this would be a great option for you.
As for a new tongue jack, I recommend taking a look at the Bulldog Top Wind A-Frame Jack, # BD1750290301. This is a great economical jack that offers a capacity of 5000 lbs, top wind handle, ergonomic design for smooth, easy cranking, and provides exceptional stability and reliability.
In addition to the jack you may also be interested in a Detachable Footplate, # BD018564, or the 6" Wheel Caster, # BD500245.
I have included a few short videos for you.
