Helpful Expert Reply:

The Demco Hydraulic Drum Brake Actuator # DM8203332 that you referenced is intended to mount on a 3-inch wide straight trailer tongue to engage drum brakes on the trailer. If you are looking to replace your trailer's electric drum brakes with hydraulic free-backing drum brakes then this unit is one of the items you will need.

I have linked our page showing all sizes of free-backing hydraulic drum brakes; you need to use free-backing brakes with this actuator to allow backing up since it does NOT have a reverse lockout feature. Select brakes to match your axle's weight capacity.

I suggest you review the linked article which covers all of the items needed to convert a trailer to hydraulic drum brakes. These include the actuator, brake assemblies, hub/drums and hydraulic brake line kit.
