Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit Compatibility With 12K Ram Landing Gear

Question:

this was asked once before on here and your answer was bulldog Powered-Drive Kit # BD1824200100 is intended specifically for their own single-speed jacks with a 12K capacity. For a Ram brand landing gear set # RVLG-8000 you can add power drive using motor kit # LC142178.inch However I called Etrailer and they told me according to their notes that indeed it would work with a Ram series 12000 tandem jacks that I have. So who is correct?

I apologize for the confusion. It sounds like you have found some conflicting answers in the past, so I took the liberty to contact Bulldog directly and this is what they said:

"The 12k RAM jack has a smaller diameter cross-shaft, therefore the attachment will be sloppy. I cannot speak for the performance or design of the RAM Jack to know if it can handle to the Bulldog Power Drive kit. If the product is not designed for a power drive application, it may not withstand the application very long, and thus it will wear it out quickly. If the jack is not designed for a Power Drive kit then it will also affect the performance and life of the Bulldog Power drive kit. My best recommendation is to pair the Bulldog Motor Drive kit with a Bulldog 12k jack."

Ultimately, it is up to you as to whether you want to pursue pairing these products, but bear in mind they were not originally designed to be paired and therefore this application would not be covered under warranty. If you end up deciding to swap out your RAM landing gear for electric jacks made by Bulldog, I recommend purchasing the # BD185400. Keep in mind, if you're looking to use this in a tandem application, this product is a single jack only and not a pair.
