Installing Brake Controller and 7-way on 2011 Class A Motorhome
Question:
I have a 2011 class A Motor Home on a ford chassis. It has a four wire trailer connection. I will be pulling a enclosed trailer with a motorcycle inside. I would like to know what brake controller I would need and how to install / make it compatible with my four wire system. Thanks

Assuming that your trailer has electric brakes, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Primus brake controller, part # TK90160. To install the controller, you'll need our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7.
The kit contains just about everything needed to install a controller, including the adapter that would plug into the existing 4-pole trailer connector, converting it to a 7-way.
Since a Class A motorhome is quite a bit longer that the typical vehicle the ETBC7 is installed on, you'll need some extra duplex cable. We sell the cable by the foot as part # 10-2-1. The kit includes 25 feet, and you'll need about an extra 20 feet.
I'll link you to the instructions for the install kit that will walk you though the whole process, plus an install video. The video shows the kit being used on a different vehicle, but the procedure would be very similar to what you'll do on your motorhome.
