I did some research on your 2009 Subaru Outback Wagon and found that only Class S tire chains are to be used, and they are only to be used on the front tires.
Tire chains are size specific so you will want to know the tire size before choosing tire chains for your Outback.
From our fit guide I found that there are 3 typical tire sizes on the Outback so I will give a recommendation based on that. The tire sizes are 205/50-17, 225/55-17, and 225/60-16. If you have a tire size that is different from these three just let me know and I will make a recommendation that will work for you.
I recommend the Titan Chain Ladder Pattern Tire Chains, part # TC1138. These have excellent traction in deep snow and have an adequate grip on ice.
We also offer rubber tire chain adjusters that will give the chains a tighter more secure fit. To order these adjusters you will need part # TCOA2.
I have attached a helpful article about tire chains you can check out, and I have also included a link to an installation video for the chains I recommended.
