Bike Carrier for Use on the Back of a Jayco Travel Trailer with 4 Inch Bumper

Question:

I have purchased a Jayco 18 ft travel trailer with a standard 4 in bumper. Itried to put my old bike rack on the spare tire but it was old and too unstable to carry our 2 bikes. I would like to install a clamp on 2 in receiver #S64025 on my bumper. I have a wonderful tubular Performance Bike Rack that I would like to use with this receiver. It is very stable and does not bounce around much when traveling i use it on the back of my truck when we travel without our trailer Do you think that this bike rack would be ok to use with your clamp receiver. It is very sturdy.

There are only certain bike racks that are rated for use on the back of an RV or trailer. You would need to contact the bike rack manufacturer to ask if your model is rated for that application. If it is not then we do have several options that will work. I have included a link to all of the racks that are rated for use behind an RV or trailer.

There are also racks that attach directly to the bumper such as # S80605 and # S80501 provided the bumper is steel, fully boxed, and welded its entire length. A co-worker uses # S80501 on his Jayco 5th wheel trailer and has not had any problems with it. You would also want to check with the trailer manual or manufacturer to make sure the bumper is rated for weight carrying.
