Hi,I was wondering which hitch looks better on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, the 13171 straight, or 13172 down and outward hitch. Witch covers better. THANK YOU

We offer four Class III trailer hitches for your 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude and these can be seen on the link provided. Between the two Curt hitches you referenced, parts # C13171 and # C13172, the one with the more discrete appearance when installed is the C13172. If you refer to the linked installation video you can see exactly how the hitch will look once installed. This is the most popular hitch choice for owners of the 2014 Cherokee and it is also the most cost-effective option.
This hitch will install using included hardware. No drilling or welding is required. You do need to temporarily lower the vehicle exhaust by simply slipping off the rubber hanger that suspends it; this is only to give you better access to the attachment points on the frame. The only specialized tool needed apart from standard hand tools is a torque wrench, which is needed to ensure the fasteners are tightened to the correct degree as specified in the linked instructions.
If you intend to tow you will need a trailer wiring harness to operate the trailer lights in tandem with the Cherokee's. I suggest a custom-fit harness, Curt's T-Connector type # C56208, which is illustrated in the linked video. This wiring kit will not require you to cut into any of the vehicle's wiring. An article to aid the installation process is provided along with the written instructions. Towing also requires ball mount, hitch ball and pin and clip. You might consider the handy ball mount kit from etrailer, part # 989900, that includes two sizes of ball mounts and hitch balls for the versatility to tow different trailers.
If instead your intended application is use of a bike rack or cargo carrier you can use one of the compatible 2-inch Class III carriers shown on the linked pages. There is a page for Class III bike racks and one for cargo carriers. I also included an article that will help you select a carrier that will provide enough clearance at the back of your Cherokee.
