Helper Spring Suspension Options for 2006 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

From time to time I carry a lot of heavy gear in the cargo area of my 2006 4Runner. When it's loaded up like that, the rear end sinks. Would you recommend the Timbren or the air suspension?

Expert Reply:

Since you don't continually carry loads in your cargo area, I'd recommend the Timbren # TTORSEQ aeon springs. The Timbren springs don't have any effect on ride until the extra weight is added to the rear of your vehicle. As more weight is added, the springs will get stiffer. The springs will not increase the cargo capacity of your vehicle, but they will help level our your ride height when you're carrying the heavy equipment around.

Air suspension systems like # F4135 are great, but unless you install an on-board compressor system like # F2158, you'll need to add air to the system when the vehicle is loaded, and release air when the vehicle is unloaded.

I've linked you to some FAQ articles and install videos that I hope you'll find helpful.
