Adding Universal Base Plates to a Heavily Modified 2006 Jeep Wrangler with Hansen Bumper

Question:

I have a Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar that I want to use to tow my 2006 Jeep TJ. The Jeep is a heavily modified off-road vehicle which weighs close to 6,000 pounds. It has solid steel Hansen off-road bumpers which have 1x7/8inch D-ring tangs already mounted but I would like to add the Blue Ox adapter to the bumper to retain the d-rings. Im looking at the triple lug adapters. I realize they are rated at 20,000 # but feel this will give me a margin of error. In addition, the tow bar may be used for even heavier vehicles in the future and I could reuse them. What is your thoughts?

It sounds like you want to install universal base plates # BX88266. The Avail tow bar will attach directly to these without using an adapter.

The bumper will likely need to be reinforced to use this type of set up. Professional installation is recommended.
