Installation

1. Drape the chain over the tire (or both tires of a dual-tire setup), making sure that the center chain is between the tires and that the side chain with the lever is on the outside. Drive forward about 1/4 of a tire revolution. (You can also lay the chain out and then drive onto it.)

2. Reach around behind the tire(s) and fasten the ends of the chain together.

3. Move back to the front of the tire(s) and fasten the ends of the chain together using the built-in lever.

4. Drive forward a bit and tighten the chain as needed by moving the hook to the next link.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Chains looked good. After watching installation video it was a breeze to put on. They fit perfect. I’m only testing them right now so when I need to use them I’ll be more comfortable. I drove 1:2 mile down & back and the chains hadn’t moved.

Chevrolet Silverado

The Titan snow tire chains that I purchased from etrailer.com fit perfectly on my 2020 Silverado 2500 HD 4x4.

by:

Chain’s arrived quickly and I did a fit up and just right size for my tires (285-70-17) with no extra links to worry about.

Tensioners I ordered were wrong size. No fault of etrailer.

I have ordered from etrailer and have had no issues with them.

by:

Wow got tire chains sooner than was estimated and fit perfectly
Thanks Ashley

by:

Perfect fit excellent customer service I’ve bought a few things from e trailer and all good experiences

by:

only had to use them once and was glad I had them. they worked great and pretty easy to put on.

by:

THe chains fit nicely.

by:

I bought these to go hunting in Colorado. I haven't used them extensively, but they did fit my 2021 GMC ATR nicely and for a novice they seemed very straight forward to install. I would recommend purchasing the chain tensioners. You may want to cut the extra links off so they don't hit the rim. I just attached one of the tensioners to mine and it seemed to secure it.

by:

Quality seems good, fit is perfect. We will see how they hold up to pulling the horses this fall.

by:

I can't do a one year review, because the tire chains broke with 5 minutes of the first install.
They are still laying in the same spot in the scrap metal pile.
Cheap steel, weak cross links, overall a poor excuse for a heavy duty application, would not recommend

The tire chains arrived fast. Easy to put on. Have used them multiple times up in the mountains...deep snow, ice, and muddy slick clay. Excellent traction. It is great to be the truck that isn't sliding all over and getting stuck.

by:

Good product, good price. Easy transaction and shipping was reasonably fast. The tire chains fit and work well, not much else to say.

by:

great merchandise and great shipping I recieved by order 2 days before Christmas and I placed it 4 days before Christmas. Will definitely use you again!! Great job!!!!

by:

They appear to be very well built easy to install

by:

by:

by:

  • Recommended Tire Snow Chains For A 2018 Ram 2500
The factory tire size I'm seeing for a 2018 Ram 2500 is 275/70R18 so you would need the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Wide Base and Dual Tires # TC3229. These twist link chains are rated for both on-road and off-road use and come in a twist link ladder pattern for better traction on ice or deep snow. These can be installed in just a few minutes and be properly tensioned with tensioners like part # PW105. Before purchasing check the sidewall of your tires for the tire size to ensure...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 285/60 R20 Tires
The Glacier Cable Tire Chains item # PW2028C will fit LT265/60 R20 tires but they will not fit the 285/60 R20 size. For a set that will fit 285/60 R20 tires you will want the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains item # TC3229. There isn't a set that will fit both.

  • Tire Chain Recommendations for a 1986 Toyota 4Runner
For your tire size the best choice is the Titan Chain # TC3229 which are rated for deep snow or mud, on-road or off-road. Add to that # PW107 rubber adjusters to help keep the chains tight and centered. I have included a link to all of the available chains for a 33x12.5-15 tire size below. You will also want to check your owners manual for the 1986 Toyota 4Runner to determine if chains can be used and if there are any restrictions. I have included a link to our tire chain FAQ article...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 285/60-20 and 315/75-16 Tires
I do have a set of tire chains for both 285/60-20 and 315/75-16 tires but there is not a single set of tire chains that will fit both tires sizes. A 285/60-20 tire is 33.5" in diameter and 11.2" wide whereas a 315/75-16 tire is 34.6" in diameter and 12.4" wide therefore, there will not be a chain that fits both sizes. For your 285/60-20 tires, I recommend taking a look at the Titan Chain Tire Chains part # TC3229 and for your 315/75-16 tires, I recommend taking a look at the Titan Chain...

  • Recommended Tire Chains For Mud and Snow In Colorado
I have another option but the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2533 you were looking at will not be the best option for mud due to the use of cams that often come loose when driving on harsh terrain or mud, which is why they are listed as on road only. The option I recommend is the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Wide Base and Dual Tires # TC3229 which has a manual adjustment that does not use cam's that often come loose while driving on harsh terrain and is rated for on and off...
