Video Transcript for Rhino Rack Roof Rack Installation - 2019 Ford Transit T350

If you're looking to enable your 2019 Ford Transit T-350 to do a little bit more, the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar roof rack system for your Transit is gonna do exactly that. What I really like about this roof rack system is it utilizes the threaded holes on your factory roof so it's extremely sturdy. There's not a whole lot of parts that can break or anything. We just have a bolt going straight through to a factory threaded hole down here. We have two on here right now but you can also get a three or a four if you really wanna load up with accessories. There's a lot of goodies here so let's start with the top.

They do give us plenty of wind strip right here so this is just going to make sure there's not gonna be any wind noise whenever the wind goes through the little channel at the bottom so if I can open up this little cap here, you can see some of these bars, they don't even have a T-slot, this one does so that's kind of nice and the weather strip's gonna be nice for when you have the wrap around accessories so it's going to not be metal on metal. It'll stay there, nice and secure. And speaking of security, you can put these caps on and you need a special tool to lock these in. And trust me, it does not, it isn't something, some random person can come up and try to get it with like a pliers. It really does lock it into place, even though it doesn't take a key, it's still gonna be nice and secure.

Whatever kind of T-slot accessories that you may have they're gonna work. It's a pretty standard size underneath this little weather strip but as far as the dimensions of our Aero Bar is gonna be it's about 3 1/8 of an inch wide and then the height is gonna be in 1 3/16 of an inch. So that's gonna fit pretty much any wraparound accessories that you may have, it's gonna be made of aluminum and they are gonna come in black or silver depending on the look that you're going for on your Transit and these are about 71 inches long all the way and we're gonna have T-tracks all the way along the whole entire bar and we do have a decent amount of overhang as well. As of right now, when we have the bar fully centered on our roof, we have seven inches of overhang so if you're looking to do some recreational stuff like a kayak carrier, there is the Thule Hullavator which needs some overhang and that'll help you load it up 'cause it is a load assisting rack so definitely check that out. I think that's something you might wanna look into if you are going to haul some kayaks just because this roof is so tall.

The whole goal with this is just to be able to load up as much stuff as possible. Honestly, you can get two up here and get a couple different accessories just on these two bars but you can put two more back there and have even more. We just wanna make sure we don't wanna overload the whole entire system. So with two bars, you're gonna have a capacity of 165 pounds which isn't a whole lot and as far as how much height it adds, it's about 4 1/2 inches from our roof to the top of the bar and then it's about, I'd say three about 3 inches to the bottom of the bar to our roof. For you, recreational people out there, you can throw up a bike rack, multiple of them and also some kayaks as well.

You can also throw up a tray or a basket or something like that, even a box to haul some of those recreational items but if you do wanna spread the cross bar, spread out a little bit more and use one of these back mounting locations. If you do go with the two bar system, you can put a bunch of ladders, lumbers, pipes, all that kind of stuff you need for the job site on your roof so you can keep everything else on the inside. You have everything ready to rip up top. The roof is pretty much already set up for a roof rack. There's a couple bolts you have to tighten on up. It's very, very simple so stick around. We're gonna show you how we did it. On the roof, there's gonna be four different points on both the driver and the passenger side that we can start to Mount our roof rack hardware. Take a look at these plugs that we have. There's gonna be a couple here that we aren't going to be able to use. The ones that we can is gonna have this little indention on the roof so we're using the one that's furthest to the front and you're gonna have one right here and then you're gonna have one a little bit farther back and then one more, even more farther back. This all just depends on what kind of accessories that you're having, just to give you an idea of the two middle ones. The cross bar spread would be 38 inches between the two middle ones and then the two farthest back ones could be about 21 inches and the front to the middle one, it'll be about 29 inches as well. What I would recommend is definitely grab at least three bars. It just depends on what you plan on putting on your roof. This was mine. I would definitely get all four 'cause it would look cool too. What we're doing today is using the front mounting locations because we're gonna put a basket on here but if you do want to use maybe a kayak carrier, canoe carrier or maybe just ladders, you might want to use the one in the back but if you do get the four or three bar system, you really don't really have to worry about that but this is what we're using today. What I suggest is getting something that's nice and thin. Ideally you have like a plastic little blade of some sort, that's not gonna scratch your paint and all you gotta do is just kinda work it around and then it'll eventually pop off like the ones that we did to your right face pop on off and there's a nice little hole right in there with threads and everything. Once you get the plug off, if it looks like this and the hole isn't perfectly centered, sometimes you can get the bolt through but just test it out to see it'll thread in 'cause it shouldn't be hard. Right now, it's just getting hung up on that side. So what you need to do is take a little Dremel or something to take a little bit of material off this side so we can get to those threads. Now we'll take our bracket, the curve piece. We want that to face the outside. We're gonna line it up and we do have a hole right here and notice the bottom, we do have a little seal right on the whole entire bottom of bracket. so none of that water's gonna get in I like to just take this, kind of push it through then we're gonna thread it in there and again, it should go in pretty easily so don't force it. We don't want to strip the threads. You see how I can just do it with my hands. Once we took off that material and we'll come through with a half inch ratchet to tighten this down. We could do that same exact thing on the other side. The end goal with the towers is this. We're gonna have the little T-bolt on top. We don't wanna screw it down all the way. Keep it kind of like that and then underneath, we're gonna have this big plate, a lock washer and our bolt so I'll show you how this works. We are gonna have to put this little facer in place, just fits in and kinda press it in like that and then we're gonna take our little plate, push this through, go through this hole, flip it back around and just throw this on, maybe once or twice, like that. I did the first one differently and this is the way that it's gonna be easiest for you. Trust me. So all you wanna do is just assemble this before we put the bar on top. So we just wanna make sure that the Rhino-Racks gonna be facing out. We're gonna take this and slide it into our track here and if you wanted to just so they don't fall off, you can tighten it up a little bit if you really wanted to, or you can also just take your cap and slide that on just so it doesn't fall off 'cause it is kinda big and tall vehicle so it's kinda hard to get up there. We want everything to stay put so we can do that same thing on this side. And I also do suggest putting the weather stripping on the top of our bar, before we get on the roof, all you gotta do is just kind of take it and just push it in like that. It's just gonna be a lot easier to do down low rather than on top of your roof. The Rhino-Rack Aero Bar is completely symmetrical so you can face it either way, so what you wanna do, just kinda get it into place. There's these little tabs on the bottom that are gonna fit into the little bracket and if you still have it pretty loose, this little bolt underneath here, it'll be pretty easy to adjust, so kinda get it to where you want it and then we're gonna take some of our hardware and thread it in a little bit. So we'll take our little bolts here. We wanna have a lock washer and a washer on there and it should go in relatively easy so you don't want to force it. Once those threads start to get going, you can take this tool to really set 'em into place, just like that. The goal here is just to get 'em nice and snug for now so we can get these secured. I'm just get this bar nice even on a roof. What we did was measure from the tower out to the end on both sides, make sure that they we're even so it's nice and centered on our roof. Now we can take our 10 millimeter and we can lock this bar down, just like that, one more. and then once that's done, we can take our tool and tighten these up. One thing about this tool, it's technically a torque tool. So see how this is kinda curved, when we hit the right torque setting, this is gonna straighten out, so that'll give you an idea, just to make sure that we're not over tightening the tower so just kinda grab it and wait until it's nice and flat like that and we're good. Do the same thing on the other side. It's just that simple to get bars up and onto your roof on your Transit and again, this was a 2019 Ford Transit T-350 and this is the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar roof rack system..

I got my racks in a timely manner and had them installed on my Van in less than two hours. The instructions were a bit confusing (Didn't really match what was in the box) but I was able to figure out what to do. I have a THOR RIZE G18 camper van that is built on a 2023 Dodge RAM Promaster 1500. The brackets fit the mounting points on the roof. Since it is 9 feet to the roof (You can't walk on this roof) it took a while to move around to the four locations to place the towers. The awning also prevented sliding the bars side to side, so I had to put the towers onto the bar on that side before attaching them to the base. The racks look good and are firmly mounted to the van. Now I have to figure out how to attach my kayaks. (There is an air conditioner in the center and a solar panel also) I plan a two-month trip in June, so I will see how the racks work.

etrailer was good to work with, however this product was very difficult to install on my 2016 Ford Transit T250 Midroof.

The instructions were very confusing when using with PIONEER PLATFORM (107" X 58") UNASSEMBLED
Part No: 52105F. For example the mounts have no access to
tighten to the van once you put the cross bars on. But you need
To have the cross bars and frame installed fro they needed to be removed. They need to make this more clear on their instructions.

Be prepared to take at least 6 -8 hours of time to do this if you have never done it before.

Very sturdy. Used to mount Heavy Duty Rhino-Rack Crossbars to a RAM Promaster High Roof van.

by:

Installation was easy and I haven't had any issues. I had originally ordered a wrong part, but the person I spoke with at etrailer made it very easy to correct this and get the parts I needed. The next time I need something from my truck, I'll be checking here first.

by:

The Rhino racks purchased were exactly what I needed to carry kayaks on my 2015 Transit 250. The vehicle specific brackets were perfectly made.
Unfortunately the parts shipped didn't match the invoice and I ended up with mismatched parts.
When I called etrailer.com customer service, we worked out the problem and the new parts were shipped asap with the understanding I would return the incorrect parts promptly.
Overall, a great experience.

by:

The fitment into t slots is pretty bad, and even with the angled spacers they do not sit flat.

by:

Super easy system to set up. Only problem was the screws that needed a special allen wrench to screw in and out began to strip. If I take them off, I will most likely need to buy new screws.

by:

Low profile foot system that works well !

by:

Not Heavy Duty. These buckled on my 2020 RAM Promaster. Support said it was my fault (impact) and refused warranty. I only have a pioneer platform and 2 solar panels on the rack, hardly a heavy load.

by:

This was my first purchase with strainer and I just installed the rack so I have no input on durability but the install was super easy, I knew these would fit because the website made it easy to find products compatible with my Ram Promaster 1500, and Kaylyn was proactive and let me know their 71” bars were out of stock but 65” were available. Unbeknownst to her, I’m in a time crunch and her help came in clutch. I would definitely recommend buying from etrailer.

by:

Awesome product to get a rack on my ProMaster without having to drill any holes. Super easy to set up, highly recommend!

by:

When I bought this for my ram promaster not even the manufacturer could tell me how it rated. I was so new they had no comparisons. I’ve had it on my van for over a year. Traveling around the country through all kinds of weather. Rain, hail, snow, and sun in the desert.
This rack is awesome.!!

I'm absolutely in love with Katie, my sales consultant for her great help & excellent follow up. Fully expecting cheap Chinese junk. I was delighted with the quality of the product, (Rhino Rack) which was received day after New Years. Pretty cool when order was placed Dec 29th. Simple illustrated instructions made pre assembly a snap. Wind chill is 2 below zero so I'm going to wait a day or so to mount to car. Two thumbs up from me!

by:

Security screws and tool are great, but bottom s crews Ca t be tightened without removing aero crossbar. Solved problem by heating and then bending end of tool to 90 degrees.

by:

Needed to lower my heavy duty Rhino Rack Did the job quickly and easily . Would have given 5 stars but seams a little less solid than original feet .

by:

I ordered these Rhino-Rack parts to complete a fourth bar on my Transit Van. The order was complete, and delivery was fast! What more could you ask for?

  • How Do I Carry 2 Kayaks On The Roof Of My 2020 Ford Transit T250?
I have a solution for you to carry 2 kayaks on the roof of your 2020 Ford Transit T250, but per Thule you cannot use two of the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carriers # TH898 on the roof of any vehicle. This is mainly because of the large amount of space that each Hullavator requires. I recommend using the Thule Hullavator for one kayak and then using another roof-mounted carrier for the second kayak. You will first need to install crossbars on the roof of your Transit if you do not already...

  • Recommended Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System For A 2017 Ford Transit T150
Hey Ian, For your 2017 Ford Transit T150 you'll need the Rhino-Rack's RTLP legs and adapters because you'll have fixed mounting points on the roof. There are a few different kits depending on the amount of crossbars you'd like to install/how many sets of fixed mounting points you have to use. Rhino-Rack has both silver and black aero crossbars to choose from so I've included both in each build below but you'll only need to select one set of crossbars and then the appropriate feet/adapters...

The roof rack I recommend for your 2019 Ford Transit T250 is the Rhino Rack Heavy Duty rack part numbers # RB1800B-2 and # RRRLTPFC-2 because the crossbars of this rack are the best suited option for carrying ladders. The strip on the top channel has a no-slip rubber surface which helps keep them from moving and because the top channel has load stops made for it for this exact purpose. The bars are shaped more like a ladder rack than a roof rack and combined with a set of Rhino Rack Load...
