Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LEDs are capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diodes are capable of producing. This light has a 189 raw lumen capacity and produces 171 effective lumens.

What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out, the Opti-Brite LED strip light for RV awnings. I already have it on. You can see that it's going to be LED, and it's really bright. It's going to be far brighter than your normal incandescent bulbs, and last 50 times longer. So, replace it anyway.
You might as well get something to interact and replace for a long time down the road. Now, the light output itself is going to be an effective lumen output of 171 lumens, and then, a raw lumen output of 189 lumens. There's going to be nine diodes in total here, helping to make it that bright, and it's going to draw power up to 12.8 volts and .15 amps. Now, it's compatible with a 12 volt DC systems, so just keep that in mind, when you're going to go through that on your rig. Let's go ahead and turn it off, so that you can see a little closer on those diodes.
I'll go ahead and disconnect the power source. And now, we can look at it just a little bit closer, and not be blinded. So, it is a low profile LED light strip, and that's what produces that light. It also is at a 45 degree angle. So, it's going to point that light down at an angle, so, underneath your awning, it's going to be down on you rather than just pointing straight out, and also has a weatherproof housing, all around here, that's going to keep the elements from getting to it, and causing any issues that way.
It's also more efficient than an incandescent bulb, so, it's not going to draw as much power as those do, and not create any heat, so, that's really important too. We've all went to go replace that light bulb, and touch it too soon and it was really hot, not gonna have that problem with this plus, you're not going to replace it for a long time either. It's got a durable polycarbonate lens, so, that's going to be able to hold up to anything, and not going to easily smash the glass or the plastic on there, and cause you any issues there, it should be able to hold up just fine. You got the clear lens and you saw the white LEDs in there, so, that's what it's going to be color white when it's coming out. The surface mounts with a flat base, it's got a wedge base, sorry, to a flat surface, the hardware is not included, so, you have to get that on your own, got two wire design, and a ground wire, a power wire.
Now, let's go ahead and get some measurements. The whole thing is going to measure right about at 11 5/16 of an inch. And let's go ahead and get the width. The width is going to be 1 1/8 of an inch. And then, back here are the screw holes. This is how you attach it. So, the diameter of those are 1 1/8 of an inch, just so you know, what kind of hardware to get with that. And then in total, how far apart they are is going to be 10 1/8 of an inch. So, all those things are just good to keep in mind, depending on where you want to put it on your rig, and get it set up, but overall, I think you're gonna be happy with it, especially, if you're replacing one of those old incandescent lights. This is going to be far better, like I said, "not as much heat," no heat, actually, and far brighter, and you're not going to have to mess with it again for a long time. Well, thanks for hanging out and I hope this help..

Surface mount. 2-Wire design.Product was exactly what I ordered. Shipping was very timely. However, the box was half open with no additional packaging material inside to protect two items moving around in a box 10 times their size. Luckily, it appears the items survived. I will know more when the led lights are installed. So, 5 stars for the item and prompt shipping but zero starts for packaging the item for safe shipment.
Beware, this product arrives with the light and cover assembled backwards; buyers - DO NOT CHANGE IT, it comes that way intentionally. Do NOT put the cover on the light in the proper orientation until you have installed the light, because once the cover is installed it is TOUGH to remove!!! I suggest to etrailer: include in the shipping package a NOTE to buyers informing them of this fact. It would be easy to break the cover, or damage it so it frequently falls off the light if it is incorrectly removed from its proper orientation.

One year later, more or less, and no opinion change from me. The product performs as expected ie, good performance lighting the area behind our Camper Van The caution I offered in my original review remains - as well as my suggestion to etrailer. I would buy this product again.
Original replacement for my Rv!
Product as described, ship on time, thank you
Exactly what I was looking for as an outside light on my motor home. It is bright and has a sleek and unobtrusive design that blends seamlessly with the side of my motor home. I now have light on the side opposite of my porch light.
Looked like factory and work good

This light is a perfect match for the Winnebago Travato. I changed out the chrome cover to black. It looks so much nicer!
