Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars Installation - 2019 Ford Fiesta

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Rhino Rack roof rack with the 46 inch long vortex bars the 2,500 feet for naked roofs, as well as the custom fit kit for your 2019 Ford Fiesta Sedan. Now the Fiesta comes in different sizes and shapes. What we have here is the four door sedan and if you need a little extra space for maybe more cargo or you wanna carry around fun accessories like a kayak or maybe a roof box or a roof basket what you first need is a roof rack system. So this is going to be the system from Rhino Rack. It's your sporty, rugged system. You have different features like your integrated locks and your custom fit kit for your vehicle.

So we'll talk about that and how it fits the Fiesta. With this, having the 46 inch long bars you have a more low profile not as much overhang style of a roof rack. So for smaller vehicles like sedans that's actually a good thing because if you have long crossbars, you're gonna be hitting your head when you get into the vehicle. So for your overhang, you're gonna have about an inch in the front and an inch and a quarter in the back. You measure from the tower to right before the end cap.

So here we have our roof clearances. So depending on what type of cargo you're carrying you might need more, you might need less. So measuring from the top of the roof to the bottom of the crossbar, it's at two and three eighth of an inch for clearance. So your clamps that go around the crossbar some people have U bolts with wing nuts you might want a little bit more clearance in that. So we can keep that in mind, get those low profile clamps.

Next is gonna be the height added to the top of your roof. This is where your cargo's gonna sit. So that's gonna be three and a quarter inches up from the center of your roof. So if you have skis, snowboards especially skis with extra tall bindings, three and a quarter isn't that much, you may wanna check out accessories that give you that extra lift. At the end of your vortex bars you're gonna have these plastic end caps so to lock them you have your special plastic key but when you take the end cap off you have access to your T-track.

So that's helpful because then you can use T-track mounted accessories. I do recommend getting extras of these because you are gonna have to cut them to size. Also, you do have the ability to upgrade to metal lock cores if you want to. Those are sold separately. You do have metal lock cores on the tower still so you're gonna have four of these lock cores and you get two keys. They're all keyed alike. Opening up that end cap on the tower you then get access to your fit kit, which has a special Allen wrench actually to tighten that down. So everything's gonna be included with your kit to install it although I do recommend grabbing maybe some tape measure to help you out. What types of accessories can you carry with this roof rack Well, you do have a crossbar spread limited to 27 and well I guess 28 inches apart compared to other cars that have raised rails where you can adjust them. This one is non adjustable. So check out your accessories make sure they fit within that crossbar spread. You also have a weight capacity of 165 pounds although remember to add the weight of your cargo, the weight of the carrier, the weight of your roof rack, and make sure it doesn't exceed your actual roof weight capacity. Now we're ready for the install. So grab your tape measure, maybe grab some scissors. You have your tools included and let's take a look at that. So the foot plate has an arrow and then the pad has an arrow. So for example, we are gonna be using the front crossbar. We're installing the front crossbar. You want the pad facing forward and then the arrow facing out. So then once those are all aligned in that spot you just clip them together. So now we're gonna clip that foot plate into the tower. Notice again where that arrow is facing, and then just slide that tower into your crossbar. Let's put it upside down and make it easier to see. Now for how far apart you need to put those towers well you're gonna have a measurement on your instructions and then you're gonna use the included measurement strip here. Pop that into your crossbar and then line your tower up right where to that number should be. That's where you're going to tighten down using the included tool. With all that in place, you are now ready to put this onto your roof. So just gently place them in the general area and then take your measurements. by the front crossbar it's gonna be seven and seven eighth inches from the door jam. So we're gonna line that arrow up there on each side. But once you have it lined up on both sides you're then gonna put the hook in and remember each hook is different for the front and the rear. And make sure that's threaded in loosely. So try to evenly tighten it down meaning I like to go about 50% on one side and 75% on the other. That way I don't pull the entire roof rack one way to the other. Once you've tightened down on both sides and you'll know because there is a torque setting on your tool you tighten down and it flattens out and then you can be able to slam the door on it. No problems. So your final step is just to put the end caps on. So your crossbars are gonna have end caps. This is a time to replace them with the metal lock cores if you got them. And then your towers have end caps too. These have included locks and keys. And once you've done that for all four of them then you are now ready to load up your crossbars and go because you are done with the install. So my personal thoughts about the Rhino Rack roof rack system is while it can be a little tricky the first time to install it, hopefully either this video is able to guide you through that process, especially with the millimeters. It can be difficult being off by a little bit on each side but you do have your included security tools. I do recommend upgrading to the metal lock cores. Comparing this with some other brands though, if you have Thule or Yakima accessories you might want the roof rack to match. I still think the Rhino Rack is a solid choice. Got great weight capacity. Looks good. Super sporty, great option for your sedan. And that right there was a look at the Rhino Rack roof rack for your 2019 Ford Fiesta Sedan..

Very easy to out together and instructions were perfect.

It looks great and fits perfectly on my Ford.

I can't say enough good things about etrailer.com. Their web-site is easy to navigate. All I did was put in my car make and model and they told me which car rack I needed to carry my kayak. I received my rack within a few days, the quality was great and it fits my car perfectly. I also had a few questions I sent via e-mail and they replied promptly and courteously. And lastly - I priced the same roof rack from several other companies and etrailer.com was by far the least expensive. Highly recommended!

Everything arrived in good shape. We looked at the spec sheet on etrailer and were good to go. The final product looks great! Thank you, Robert.

This was a great purchase. I originally ordered roof crossbars from somewhere else and immediately returned them. They were a universal fit and were not secure at all when they were tightened down. They were from a third seller on Amazon. I found these on etrailer and I am glad that I made the purchase. I did not want to spend the money at first that these cost, but am glad that I did. The install was easy and the crossbars are very secure and hold up well with the cargo basket installed. They were well worth the money. Can't wait to try them out when we go camping. Thank you etrailer.

by:

Ease of order, receipt, installation and excellent customer service is what I received in this order.
Thank you, e-trailer!

Takes a little while to assemble the rack bars.
The stickers are great I can mark the positions after measuring the distance between the bars.
One of the screws is underneath the bar; it is hard to reach to tighten the bars.
Finally, I got the roof rack installed and it looks good.

by:

Pretty nice rack system. Held up to my 90lb canoe no problem. However a piece did fly off on the highway and the "locking" bar end cap can pull off super easy.
The directions were ok. There is some stuff you have to kind of figure out for yourself, mainly the roof trim. I plan to leave the rack on so I drilled theough the trim

Just followed all the etrailer website prompts for my naked roof Toyota Matrix and it set me up with the three packages needed- rails legs and fitkit. Installed easily enough. I like the little arrow stickers hidden in the door jams for fast re-install later. Held two 10’ kayaks on a 2 hr journey with ease.

by:

This is a perfect fit for our 2015 Prius V with "naked" roof. Instructions were clear and accurate, and the bars are solid and able to support our canoe and kayak easily. We added the air deflector, as there was a bit of wind noise, but now there is none. Great product at much lower price than the big names.

Absolutely love the Rhino Rack. Easy to install (watch the [online] video). Looks GREAT. Hauls my kayaks no problem. Very well made and I highly recommend this product.

The Rhino 2500 series is well built. The etrailer customer service person Trevor W. was great. He was so helpful in getting the right components for my Rhino 2500 roof rack to mount to my 2010 Silverado. Thanks for the help Trevor.

This was the kit for my 2020 equinox. The spacing of the feet on the vortex aero bars was incorrect I had to use the Euro sizes. Went back and forth with customer service trying to get confirmation that was the right size but it never was confirmed. Everything is installed now and sturdy.

by:

Seemed to work well with my 2012 Kia Soul. I have only had it on my car for a day at writing this so I can't really give it five stars. I would bump it up to five stars once its been on for a few months. Easy to install, and after doing a bit of research Etrailer.com Had the best deal, and support for installation.

by:

Once installed the product is very sturdy and looks great. But the directions are hard to follow because of the separate components and would have been really tough without the video which was great. I have one problem, how can I eliminate the annoying wind sound when driving when nothing on the rack. I saw a video where wrapping a line around the crossbar can help. It has helped a lot but not completely. Is there another secret for this?

by:

Installed this and 65" Vortex Areo crossbars on a 2015 RAM 5500 chassis cab/crew cab. It is listed to fit 1500 to 3500 RAM's and neither Rhino-Rack or etrailer would confirm it would fit the 5500. My research suggested there was not much, if any difference, between the 3500 and 5500 crew cab, so ordered it any way. Installation was relatively easy, fit seemed to be good and have made multiple 200-300 mile trips with a 75lb kayak. Good price, great customer service and fast delivery through etrailer.

by:

The roof rack is great, just pretty pricy, by me standards.
My only problem with the whole experience was that the roof rack comes in there separate packages. In my order, one package was omitted, which created some confusion. I had to go back to the company and request that the 3rd package be sent.
Otherwise I'm happy with the purchase.
I responded to a previous request fro feedback, so I'm not sure why I'm being asked again, but . . .

by:

Customer support was great. After reading the instructions and watching the video on how to install the Rhino Rack installation went well. The ski rack has one draw back, if you leave car out over night with skis locked in the ski rack, every thing can be easily stolen. All you need is an Allen wrench to remove the ski rack with the skis. The roof rack has locking covers the prevent theft of the roof rack. The ski rack can be easily removed from the roof rack.

by:

Fairly easy installation. Read the instructions thoroughly before hand and get familiar with the parts. Take care when installing mounting studs onto car itself so as not to strip or cross thread them. Once installed they look great.

by:

Ive had these racks for a year and they've been really good. They fit my 2019 nissan frontier easily. The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is when it rains really heavy, I get a slow, occasional drip where the mount sit under the door's weather seal.

This review covers the Rhino Rack 2500 Vortex Aero crossbars and associated parts (DK284, RRRLKVA, RRVA137S-2) for a naked roof installation on a 2018 Honda CR-V.

Very solid racks. We just took our first trip using them and the didn't budge. As recommended, a few days after installing, I tightened the bolts a bit. I'm not sure they needed it--just a little insurance.

The installation process was clear, but fairly detailed. It would be easy to miss a step, so take your time. Also, I tried a couple shortcuts in the order when installing on the car, but had to back track. So, go in the order they give you.

The racks easily supported our filled "pod" and a couple surfboards, strapped side-by-side. Sorry, no photos of the rack loaded. One thing to watch out for is that our old Thule pod almost didn't fit because of the thickness of the racks. I had to loosen the bolts almost entirely.

Of note: I feel that although I followed the measurements to the millimeter, the fit on our 2018 Honda CR-V wasn't exact. Where the pads sit on the roof of the car didn't align perfectly. I could have adjusted this by just re-trimming the rubber pads that go in the channels, but it's not a big deal, so I just left it.

Finally, I do have one concern. The angle of final installation doesn't really protect the racks from theft very well. The plastic plate that locks over the screw would allow someone with the proper tool to get up under it and loosen the bolts. That being said, someone so inclined could also just break the little plastic door or drill a hole in it to access the bolt. So, I guess it's just a deterrent anyway.

Overall, I'm very happy with the racks and etrailer.com! Despite shipping delays due to Covid-19, they were able to get the racks to me in time for an upcoming trip. I did choose to expedite shipping, but the cost was very reasonable.

by:

Easy assembly and installation. Pay careful attention to pad direction as shown in instruction sheet for the fit kit. One gripe: one end-cap refuses to lock (blue plastic key lock). Had to tape it on so I don’t lose it.

All items ordered were as described wind were easy to install . The shipping was less than stellar . Tforce sat on the items for 3 business days before finally calling . No tracking was provided for tforce till I called in to etrailer questioning why shipment went from ups to T FORCE . Driver from t force claimed he could not get into address location per length of his trailer . Had to meet driver at another address . Came back to original delivery address and fed ex freight was sitting in parking lot just fine ( had same size trailer as TFORCE ) . Tforce Driver was basically being lazy by not coming to original address . Hope etrailer changes shipping companies

  • Roof Rack Recommendation For 2019 Ford Fiesta 4-Door Sedan
We do indeed have a roof rack that will fit your 2019 Ford Fiesta 4-door sedan, and the best option for the rack is going to be from Rhino-Rack. The reason for that is because Rhino-Rack offers the best overall value for a roof rack; the quality is the same as similar brands, but at a better price point. This gives you a high-quality roof rack for your Fiesta, but without having to pay just for a certain brand name on the crossbars. The parts that make up the Rhino-Rack roof rack that...

  • Recommended Rhino-Rack Roof Rack for Both a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage and 2016 Ford Fiesta
I do have a solution for you, but the Rhino Rack RS 2500 bars are custom fit lengths and will not work for both your 2016 Ford Fiesta and 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage. Instead, if you like the Aero Bar look of the Rhino Rack crossbars I would instead suggest going with the Rhino Rack Vortex System that is made up of black crossbars # RRVA118B-2, Vortex foot # RRRLKVA, and custom DK clamp kit # DK367 for your 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage. The only thing you will need to do to adapt this Vortex roof...
