Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness.This is going to give us our 4-pole flat at the back of our vehicle so we can operate our lights on our trailer or any kind of aftermarket accessory, so that gives you your brake lights, your turn signals, and your running light signal. It also gives you your ground connection as well. So, it's important to have on your trailer to make sure those light signals are coming through so other drivers can see what's going on around you. The nice thing about this kit is that it is a custom fit, so there's no cutting or splicing required into your vehicle's wiring. It doesn't affect how your vehicle light functions overall.

It's just going to give you that functionality to work with your trailer lights.It comes with some accessories to help get it installed, a fuse holder and the fuse to make sure that everything is protected. Also, the module box protects your wiring as well so you don't have to worry about any kind of back feed or anything coming through from your trailer. If there's any bad wiring there, it's not going to affect the wiring in your vehicle overall. We also get some bulk wire to make sure that we can run our wiring from the back of the vehicle up to the front or to our battery, and so let's take a little closer look and I'll describe that more in a little bit of detail.This is a custom fit for the 2014 through the 2018 Kia Forte 5 hatchback, and for the '18 that is with or without the LED tail lights. So the way you're going to get this guy installed is just to take out the tail lights for your Kia, get access to the back plugs there, and then plug these guys right in line.

That's where it gets the name of a T-connector, since this wiring looks like a T, and that just is going to use those factory connectors to give you that.The white, red, yellow, and brown wires, this all goes on the . or, excuse me, the driver's side, and the green goes on the passenger side, so it makes it pretty easy to get that installed. The little black wire coming off of here is going to go to our bulk wire. That's our powered connection. And before you get to the battery or the positive terminal, you want to put that fuse holder right in line to give that connection some protection.

Again, it does come with a 10 amp fuse to go in that fuse holder. We'll have the dust cap for our 4-pole wiring, some zip ties, a couple of butt connectors, and a ring terminal to make that connection onto the battery, as well as a self-tapping screw to connect your ground wire there. Or, should I inaudible 00:02:24 I said that this had the white wire. The white wire is on its own. That's your ground.So all in all, it's really not too complicated to get this installed.

It's something you can definitely do in your driveway, in your garage, in an hour or two. The hardest part is usually just getting access to your back tail lights to get the wiring plugged in and then running the wire all the way up to your battery. But as long as you just take your time, anchor things off to safe spots along the vehicle, make sure that you tie off all your wiring, keep it all nice and neat, it should be pretty straightforward. Whenever you are running that bulk wire, you just want to stay away from anything hot like your exhaust or anything moving like your suspension. And again, make sure that you tie it off at several points along the way. You want to take up any slack so there's nothing that's going to get hung up on the bottom of your vehicle.That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness.
