I started with the Draw-Tite product for my 2011 Hyundai Touring, but it wouldn't fit. If you're wanting a hitch, the Curt is really your only option. I used a hydraulic jack to keep the hitch in place, while putting in the bolts and I didn't have any issues. There's only one thing that is an absolute necessity - before trying to install the bolts, you must clean them out with a round pipe brush and a WD-40 like spray. There is rust and other junk in the weld nuts, and cleaning them gets rid if this. I destroyed two brushes doing this work, as the bolts would not go in the nuts without the cleaning.

Hitch install was pretty easy and did not require any modifications to the vehicle. The hardest thing was getting it lined up with the holes in the frame. I would recommend having a one person to hold the hitch up while another puts the bolts in.

Product fitted perfectly on 2014 Hyundai Elantra Touring hatchback. Installation was quick and easy.

Hyundai

Received the package in good order. UPS had set something down on it which crushed the cardboard but it did not damage the hitch. The welding looked GREAT and the black finish was perfect. I noticed the drain holes in the cross tube so that water inside the tube could get out. Good feature.
It took me about four hours to install; however, I do not have a fully equipped shop, just my household garage and hand tools and being 81 years old slows me down more than a little. I still have to get the bolts torqued to 48 lb-ft but I will have the Hyundai dealer do that for me. As other reviewers have noted, the most time was spent lining up the holes in the hitch to the weld-nuts on the Hyundai frame. I finally used chalk to make marks on the frame and on the hitch so that I had something to guide on - trying to see black holes on black steel and a black car frame is difficult. I made vertical and horizontal marks lined up with the center of the frame holes and also on the hitch with those holes. I used a rolling car jack to lift the hitch and hold it while I struggled with getting the bolts started. First lining up the holes with a soda straw helped. Oh, and I cleaned out the holes and pre-lubed with WD-40 as the instruction video suggested. Persistance paid off and I finally got all four bolts in and snugged down. I tightened them as far as the tools would allow but i know they have to be tightened again before towing anything.
I have requested technical support in purchasing the drawbar and ball. When that comes in, the bolts are properly torqued, and I get the wiring kit installed, I should be good to go.

Installed on my Hyundai Elantra Touring. It needs a 2 inch to 1.25 converter since most bike racks are 2 inches, but held steady and lets me take both bikes on swooping turns in the mountains! I dont even know its there.

2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring

I installed this hitch on Xmas Day on my sons car. It was an effortless job taking less than 30 minutes. A perfect fit. A heavy duty top quality item that will provide good service for years.
From ordering, to a 3 day delivery, to installation it was a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this product for its quality and e trailer for its first class service.

2010 Hyundai Elantra

Excellent hitchThis hitch cam came well packed and finished in a nice gloss black paint. All the hardware was there. It fit perfectly with no modifications necessary to my 2010 Elantra Touring. No need to drop exhaust. I installed it myself by lifting it in to position with a small floor jack. Two people might be nice if no jack.

One suggestion for improvementLike the most: The Curt hitch does not require the removal of anything to install.
Like the least: The bolts supplied do not have a self centering feature. They are put in from the side with no visibility to the mounting holes in the car frame. With no centering taper on the end of the bolts, things must align EXACTLY before the bolts will start. Nut you can't see the holes in the car frame and must do it by feel. That turned a 5 minute job into a half hour job real quick!

by:

The hitch came well wrapped so it wouldn't be damaged in shipping. You do not need to drop the exhaust or do any customization work to install the hitch. The best thing to do is grab a friend to help you slip the hitch into place. It took 10 minutes to install this way. The hitch is solid and looks great.

by:

Easy enough to install, still firmly attached after a year+

by:

Bolt in just as described. 4 bolts and done. I did it by myself on my back and it only took about 10 minutes. Great product-thanks

by:

I am very happy with this company. Emily was most helpful and knowledgeable. Hitch came when expected and was perfect.
Thanks
John

  • Can the Curt Stabilization Strap be Used on a Platform Style Kuat Bike Carrier
The Kuat NV, # NV12G as an example, and the Sherpa, # SH12B as examples, are platform style carriers that hold the bikes at the wheels and would not be the best bike racks when using stabilization strap # 18050 with a Curt trailer hitch # C11471 on your 2009 Hyundai Elantra. Curt does not provide instructions on how you would attach the strap to this type of bike rack so you would basically need to attach it anywhere that you could. The other option is to use Draw-Tite trailer hitch #...

  • Trailer Hitch for 2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring
After confirming with Curt they do have a hitch that specifically fits the touring model of the 2011 Hyundai Elantra. That is the Curt hitch part # C11471. A popular attachment for class I hitches are bike racks. I highly recommend looking at part # TH934XTR if you're in the market for a bike rack. This is a 2 bike rack and has a tilting feature for easier trunk access.

  • Trailer Hitch Size For 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring Wagon
The only trailer hitch that fits your 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring Wagon is a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch, though you don't have to worry about it not being stable, as it is just as stable as the larger 2 inch hitch. The correct hitch fit for your '12 Elantra Touring Wagon is the following: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11471 Just keep in mind that a Class I hitch does require a Class I-compatible bike rack. And since your Elantra is fairly low to the ground, I highly recommend either...

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2010 Hyundai Elantra Sedan
We have a hitch for your 2010 Hyundai Elantra Sedan. It is the Draw-Tite Sportframe Hitch, part # 24795. In comparison to the Curt hitch for the 2010 Elantra, part # C11471, the Draw-Tite has an easier install, has a concealed cross tube, and is more highly-rated overall. I've linked to a video of the Draw-Tite's hitch on a 2010 Elantra. Keep in mind that both of these are Class I and have 1-1/4" openings. So, when choosing accessories like bike racks or ball mounts for towing, you will...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Racks for a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Built in Korea
I spoke with my contact at Curt and he said the extra hole that needs to be drilled for Korean built 2012 Hyundai Elantras is for the sedan model only. If your 2012 Hyundai Elantra is touring 5 door model, then the extra hole does not apply and the Curt Hitch, part # C11471, will work for your vehicle with no drilling required. This hitch includes a draw bar, pin and clip, so you would just need a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball, # 19257, or a 2 inch hitch ball, #19258, and wiring harness, #118473,...

The strap referred to for the # C11471 trailer hitch, part # 18050, would be used as an extra stabilizer for the bike rack or accessory. In the case of a bike rack, you would attach the strap between the upright bar of the bike rack and the trunk of your 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring. This # 18050 strap is recommended to prevent extra sway due to the low tongue weight capacity of the class I hitch, in order to maintain the hitch warranty and also to provide extra support to prevent damage...
