The drawbars, or front arms, on the EZ series base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove, simply twist the arms back and pull them out. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

Prepared my vehicle for the base plate. The base plate has a manufacturing defect in that the crossbar is approximately.375 inches short. The hole pattern matched on one side but the other side would not line up with the vehicle holes. The mounting plate overlapped the mounting holes by 1/3rd. Clearly, the assembly was short. I find my disassembled vehicle sitting for a week waiting for the replacement to arrive. Hopefully, Roadmaster QC did a better job on the new base plate assembly that I am waiting for.

I was having problems with the bracket that was on the car when I bought it and when it no longer felt safe to me, I looked on your website for a replacement. Lo and behold, this product appeared to be better designed and an easier installation. Putting 8t on today proved that. I am very happy with the product and your service. Thank you very much!

This product continues to meet or exceed my expectations. I have had no issues or problems with it.

2010 Honda Fit

Very happy with this product. Installation was pretty easy. I see no reason to pay someone to install this. True you have to take the bumper off and a large metal support beam but it was pretty easy. You just have to take it slow and not get frustrated. The bumper on the Honda Fit is held on with a gazillion little plastic clips and snap joints. Everything fits tight on a Honda so you have to be patient. My only complaint is they don't give you the exact torque settings. I had to consult a shop manual to get the correct torque values. They give a table at the end of the instructions that gives common torque values for various bolt sizes. I thought that was lame they could have given the correct value from the shop manual. Certainly not enough to lower my rating. This bar is awesome and when the drawbars are removed the base plate is almost completely hidden. My wife wanted nothing to show on the front of the car. She was very pleased with it.

In the picture attached the bar is almost completely hidden. All you see are two small black circles. It takes about 2 seconds to mount the drawbars, just twist and go. VERY sturdy. I tow my Honda behind the motorhome with confidence.

2011 Honda Fit

The installation on this was surprisingly quick on my 2011 Fit (base/non-sport version). Everything fit well (no pun intended).

A few minor changes over the video as my car was slightly different:
- I didn't have to trim anything on the air dam -- the tubes lined up perfectly with the slots on my grill.
- There was a in the wheel on each side where the plastic bumper meets the steel body panel. I didn't realize they were there (they're hidden somewhat) so I ended up cracking the hole this screw was in, but everything came back together nice and tight anyway.

I did purchase this base plate for my Honda Fit that I flat tow behind my motor home, the product was installed as shown with absolutely no issues, and I continue to tow my Honda regularly, I would consider a great investment and well worth the money I spent.

We have towed the Honda many times behind our motorhome and haven’t had any issues.

2013 Honda Fit

The Roadmaster EZ Base Plate for my Honda Fit is very heavy duty - well built. The on line Video and the included instructions were excellent. I did encounter one problem during the installation - 2 holes in the mounting plate on the passenger side did not quite line up. I had to enlarge the 2 holes about 1/8 inch toward the outside of the car to make it work. The receivers fit nicely through the grill with no adjustment to the grill.

I have made purchases for two different vehicles. Both were used for four wheel down towing. Each time etrailer gave me correct information on the products and promptly shipped and delivered them. Best of all they fit correctly and no surprises. I will use them again.

2011 Honda Fit

I recently ordered a flat tow base plate for a 2011 Honda Fit. I need to review that product too. It was a pain getting it mounted as the bracket didn't quiet fit as it was supposed to. But that is Roadmaster's fault and not yours. I will contact them to complain.

Thanks for the followup!

Mazda Miata

I like the Roadmaster tow bars but I am 2 for 2 with fitment issues. The one bolt hole did not line up with the frame, after trying to adjust and take measurements for an hour, I had to grind about an eighth of an inch on the frame hole. This issue doubled the installation time. Had a similar issue with my Miata tow bar 7 years ago, but had to enlarge hole on tow bar. The etrailer video was excellent and this would have been a simple install if the tow bar fit.

I have used Roadmaster hitches and baseplates on several vehicles over the years. The purchase experience with E-Trailer has consistently been excellent. The baseplate is high quality, easy to install, and an excellent fit!
Thanks!!

Honda Fit

Base Plate went in without any problem. The on-line video helped tremendously especially when removing the plastic bumper. A little more information could have been prided on disconnecting the fog lights on the Sports model of the Honda Fit. But I was able to take out a few more screws and get access to the plugs. The base plate is barely visible and I love the twist and lock feature on the base plate. Much better than the old pins and clevis on older base plates.

Tow Bar System is obviously part of a full set of kits that are installed in out Honda Fit and towed. I installed the system and fit great. No complaints and it’s easy and quick to hook up each time and works as it should.

by:

Easy to install and great price highly recommended

The etrailer video instructions to install the base plate was very helpful and enabled easy installation.
Shipment was within 48 hours of order
Would use etrailer again.

This was a great kit to work with. Instructions made it simple. It took longer to put the car back together than to put the base on.
I would highly recommend this product . I am a 74 year old women and I tow my 2010 Honda Fit with ease. Buying this product thru E trailer really saved me a lot of money with their free shipping. Juanita did a great job helping me order it. I will return here again if I ever need anything more.

Sequence of events can aid in easier installation.

1. Problem: I found threading the bolts into the weld nuts that are located on the bars that slide into the frame was very difficult.
Solution: I took off the baseplate and chased the threads with a 1/2 - 13 tap to clear out the powder coat paint and the bolt easily threaded in by hand.

2. Problem: When I tried to get the base plate bolted on, I did the front facing bolts first then tried to align the slide in 3/4" bolts next. I couldn't get them in. I read a review where someone had to grind the frame to get the slide bolts to align. There had to be a better way without modification.
Solution: When the front cowell has been removed and the baseplate is hand held in position on the FIT, thread the 3/4" head bolts into the slide in brackets BEFORE putting the 12 mm bolts into the brackets that face forward. In my case the bolts went in without any difficulty. If you follow my suggestion you too can avoid grinding.

Honestly, since installation the use of the tow bar has become an automatic. To say I have not given it a single thought is the case. Simply stated it works as expected. Thanks for a great product!!

I already had the tow-bar and only needed the hardware on the toad side. Cathy was very helpful and quickly determined the needed parts. etrailer offered free shipping and a few days later I received the shipment.

2012 Honda Fit

This product is a poor fit for my 2012 Honda Fit. The holes along the side which go into the frame rails are a few millimeters too far forward. Better-positioned holes would have saved me a couple hours of frustration.

eTrailer was great, shipped promptly, and for free!

I ordered the baseplates to tow a Honda Fit. The procuct arrived on time, Had very good directions, & installed in about 2 hours. A very clean installation, very well represented. Tghe on line video was really a big help. Kudus to all of you. D

by:

Received the baseplate in the time specified. They followed up with an email confirmation that the product was delivered to my side door. I seldom buy something over the internet but this was a good experience. It arrived in good shape but that is no surprise because it is really rugged and heavily constructed. Can't wait to install it. Instructions look really detailed.

The first thing you need to flat tow your 2010 Honda Fit is a base plate kit like the Roadmaster EZ part # 521190-1 which is a confirmed fit.
