Video Transcript for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness Review

Brad Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the vehicle-specific wiring harness, that will work in conjunction with the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller. These harnesses are going to be great to work with your Tow-Pro Elite in a variety of different trucks and SUVs. Now, make sure that you get your vehicle-specific harness. You're going to want to use our fit guide on "etrailer.com", and that's going to make sure that you get the right harness, and that way your install goes nice and easy.

Included in the REDARC kit, you will find this plugin adapter, and this is going to have these spliced ends, and you're gonna have to tie into your brake signal, your brake output, your power output and your ground. Now, if you are pretty handy with electrical, that's awesome. That's great. You can use this. But I'm the kind of person, plug and play in OEM kind of setup or really nice factory one like this.

This is the vehicle-specific harness. So this ties in directly to our factory tow system, and clips right in, it's got this nice braided sheathing on it, to kind of protect the wires, and then it plugs directly into our module here. So, to save yourself a little bit of headache and time, and make the install go that much smoother, and not have to worry about loose connections, I highly recommend getting the vehicle-specific harness. So this end of the plug is specific to your vehicle. As you can tell, it looks like the factory plug, it fits in perfect, has the locking mechanism, so you aren't gonna have to worry about loose connections happening with your plug, and it's going to make install a lot easier.

And that was a look at the vehicle-specific harness for the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller..

No issues with the product

I love redarc! Their products are simply the best out there. I run these on all my tow fleet. They are smart and learn your vehicle setup quickly. I would recommend this to anyone looking to add a trailer brake system into a vehicle. Easy to install, and no more hitting your knee on the controller because they are small and can be installed in various locations in the cab. Less than an hour install time the first one and then about 20 minutes to install them after the learning curve(ie. me…)

by:

The Red-arc controller came missing the ring for the switch. The harness was spot on and easy to use.

The real travesty is etrailer shipping and customer service. Two weeks to arrive…… customer service contacted and couldn’t be less concerned, said call us if it does not come in three weeks from order….

Used to be a great place to shop and the customer service was top notch…..not so much anymore.

by:

Easy install, works great stopping my 30 foot travel trailer, I love the way you install the controller behind the dash and all you see is a little knob.Easy to adjust more brake or less brake with the turn of that little knob.

by:

This works exactly as described, easy installation & adjust / control of braking for your trailer. Excellent product.

by:

The TPH-007 is the correct cable for a 2022 E350 cutaway in the Thor motorhome. Just double check that your Ford plug has 4 pins. 3 in 1 row and 1 on another row.
If all 4 pins are in the same row you will need the TPH-005

by:

I am very pleased with my brake controller. I would highly recommend it.

by:

Absolutely spot on. The adapter harness was perfect, the installation was easy, and the brake controller is excellent. Thank you etrailer!

I always get excellent service from trailer. Prices are very good

This wire harness made it plug and play. I will be looking for Redarc for my next install.

by:

This adaptor plug was very simple to plug into my OEM trailer brake connection.

by:

Easy hook up. Don’t waste time running new wires. Plugs into your factory wires. 2017 expedition

by:

What can I say? It makes installation a breeze grabbing the right harness. No searching, splicing, grounding, or fishing wires. Clean, professional, protected. This is my second time using these - wouldn't do it without.

by:

Pluged it in and it played, no issues!

by:

4 stars vs 5 because I have not hauled yet with my Redarc brake controller yet. Mounted it where the factory brake controller would have gone and it looks great. Install only took a couple of hours. One thing that is worth mentioning is that the break controller may NOT light up after initial install if a trailer is not hooked up. I was expecting it to light up as it learned the mounting position as mentioned in the manual but it didn’t. After a call to the manufacturer hot line we were told this is the most common call they get and not to worry the install is correct. I’ll try to write another review after I’ve hauled a significant load (4 tons or more) and let you know how my Redarc break controller did.

by:

My 2015 Ford F150 needed a trailer brake controller for the small squaredrop trailer that we bought recently. I did a little research and found that the REDARC controllers were very highly regarded. Can't give you much of an analysis of its performance, but it went in very easily - everything is just plug and play - the unit figures out which way is forward and then you have the option of dialing in the exact amount of power going to the trailer brakes. The hardest thing was deciding where to drill the hole for the control knob!

by:
2019 Ford F-150

Installed in 2019 F-150. Not a whole lot of options on where to mount the remote switch on the dash. Mounted a plated of aluminum in the space where the factory control would be. The factory wiring was behind the dash in the back of the dummy cubby hole. The plug-and-play harness plugged directly into the Ford harness, then just had to clip off the black end and push the wires into the new connector supplied with the control module. The control module fit perfectly under the steering column, horizontally on a steel support plate. The next day, towed the trailer with two RZR's from WI to KS and back. Every thing worked perfectly.

This harness did not fit my F-150 and the website said it would.

Redarc confirms that the # 331-TPH-007 is indeed the correct harness, but Im wondering if youre trying to plug in to the right connector under the dash? The connector youre needing is pinned to the back of the little coin traycubbyhole located to the right of the ignition. Tekonsha brake controllers use a similar connector, part # 22292 and Ill link you to that product page which has photos showing exactly where the proper connector can be found.

by:
2012 Ford F-150

My 2012 F150 needed a brake controller for our new travel trailer and this adapter made the install plug and play without splicing wires. Plugs directly into the factory brake controller plug.

  • FINISH Why Isn't My Brake Controller Working on Trailer when Towed By My 2013 Ford F-150?
As long as you have a wiring harness like the Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # 331-TPH-007, I recommend making sure that all of the pins on your receiving connector are all connecting with the controller itself. Sometimes the pins in the harness can get damaged or bent to the point where they need to be replaced. The next thing to check is the fuse that powers the brake controller. Since your 2013 Ford F-150 has a factory connector under the...

I took a look at your order for the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR, and while it will work with your 2017 Ford E-450 motorhome, it also looks like you have the wrong plug-in adapter. It looks like you ordered the Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # 331-TPH-007, which is the incorrect harness for a 2017 E-450. The correct harness for a 2017 Ford E-450 is the Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # 331-TPH-005. This harness...

It sure is! To install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR in your 2014 Lincoln MKT with the Factory 7-way connector you will just need the Plug-In wiring adapter # 331-TPH-007.
