Speaker 1: Today we are going to be taking a look at the ProGrip Top Loader Tie Down Strap. Now this tie down strap offers a very unique design. This is designed to connect directly to a ladder rack, giving you your straps always in place, helping you to secure your cargo. Now the thing I like about it is it's going to give us one fixed point, so whatever side we attach this to as we take our strap over to the other side we won't have to worry about it coming unhooked. It is a pretty big headache with a common strap kind of going back and forth, trying to keep both hooks in place.This is going to work out well as you can see with this square style ladder rack, but as part of the packaging, something I think is really clever. You cut this off here, you cut this off here, that is then going to give us the adapter that we need for the rounded style roof rack.

So it is going to work with both styles for you. To mount that to the roof rack, you can see the elongated holes here, and also here. They are offset so you don't have to worry about them running into each other and you can use 3/8ths diameter hardware. The holes are about one inch in length so that is going to give you some variation there as far as options in mounting go.As far as use goes, you can see we got a quick take up knob, located there on the side. That is going to allow us to get most of our slack out of the strap before we start tightening it down.

Now we got several options as far as that final torque process is concerned. Provided with the strap we've got our tool here, basically just a 5/16th inch bar that will allow you to put the torque on it that you need. But also I think a couple of other handy options are going to be the outside square here measures 3/4 of an inch. So we can use a 3/4 inch wrench, we could use a crescent wrench.The smaller inside square that you see there, that will accept a 3/8ths drive socket. I don't think you are going to run into a problem with losing your pin here as you can see it does come with a holder.

So once your pin is removed we can mount this anywhere on our ladder rack or on our truck anywhere we wanted to keep our pin. Then slide that in, that is going to keep it in place, we won't have to worry about losing it.Now when it is time to unload, you'll have your release lever right here. You'll pull up on that, pull out on the strap to your desired length. It gives you a little bit of back tension, not too much. You're not going to have to fight it to get it out, but it is also not going to free spool on you.

I think that is a nice added benefit. Now as far as strength and dependability go, you've got the yellow zinc finish through the entire structure and the strap through the D ring and also on the J hook. So you are not going to have to worry about corrosion for a long time to come.Over all the hardware and everything seems really nice. It seems heavy duty. The double J hook, of course, is going to give you some extra strength there as opposed to just a single hook. Something that I also like about it is that they have provided a sliding D ring. You can see that ring right here, so when it is time to secure something you can simply wrap that around, go into that D ring, that is going to provide a cinch point there. You can connect your ring to any point on your ladder rack, but also, we've got an attachment point located here, and there, for our upper and under slung style loads. So we've gotten several options there as far as how we want to connect it.Now the strap itself is going to be an inch and a half wide, it is a polyester webbing, very common. The stitching on it overall is good quality. Just a single stitch there, but that is going to fall right in line with its safe working load limit of 500 lbs and the break strength of 1500 lbs. Now in securing items, you definitely want to use two straps, in case one fails you'll have the other one for back up. And you want to stay with the safe working load limit. 500 lbs will be your maximum safe load with this. This strap is also going to be eight feet long, so that should be more than enough to get over even the largest loads and be able to connect it to the other side of your ladder rack.That should do it for our look at the ProGrip Top Loader Tie Down Strap.
