Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

2024 Honda CR-V

2024 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring - When looking for a hitch for my car I could not find a review saying someone was able to get this to work on this model of CR-V, so here it is!

First the product - the hitch is very well made, sturdy, welds looks solid, and what seems to be a robust paint job. Only time will tell how it survives Michigan's salty winters before going rusty. Installation hardware seems strong, although it would've been nice to include 4 bolt snakes, not just one. Side note here, the standard bolt and lock washer combo is HORRIBLE, when you try and tighten them it is nearly impossible to stop the bolt from spinning in the subframe. I had to remove the aluminum crash bar to be able to stick a long screwdriver in there and jam the bolt head while tightening the nut (not enough space for a wrench to fit). Please EcoHitch, change to carriage bolts with square holes in the mounting plates.

Next, the installation. When etrailer says it's a 10 out of 10 difficulty, they're not lying. My biggest complaint is that all the installation instructions (written and video) are for the previous generation CR-V. There's a significant number of similarities, but none of the included pictures are perfect. The biggest difference is the amount of cutting on the rear bumper, the advised 2" x 1 3/4" cut ended up being much more like 4" x 2" just to get the bumper to fit.

Lastly, for those concerned about the hands-free liftgate sensor, on this generation (2023-2024) Sport Touring, the sensor DOES NOT FIT, and it isn't close. I attempted to cut away excess plastic to clearance it. It does not work. I will be investigating the Honda relocation assembly, but at this point have left it disconnected.

Overall, happy with the hitch, but it is a very difficult install. After 4-5 hours as a single person on the ground, you to can make this hitch fit on your Hybrid Sport Touring.

Wow thank you for sharing all this info with us! That is an awesome review and I am sure others will find it helpful, too.

2022 CR-V hybrid. This hitch is more expensive than others and the installation is more involved, but I think it’s worth the trouble when you don’t see a bunch of metal hanging off the bottom of the car. The bumper cover has to come off, and you have to drop two of the muffler hangers. Do yourself a favor and have two jack stands ready to hold the hitch in place while bolting it up. Also have the proper pry tool for removing the plastic fasteners, and a 2 - 3 foot pry bar and silicone spray are helpful in removing the exhaust hangers. When trimming the plastic I would recommend fitting and measuring and marking the pieces in place yourself, as the dimensions in the instructions were a bit tight. It took me about 2.5hrs to install the hitch by myself and test fit my 1up bike rack. Instructions say to put the car on ramps, I didn’t find that to be necessary. I’m very pleased with the fit and quality of this hitch.

by:

I was not sure about an aftermarket hitch. This was not bad to install and does not stick out or down in the back. I am totally satisfied with the quality and appearance.

Live the hitch and use if for light towing and bikes. I love the installed look and the relative ease of install.

Honda

This hitch was much more expensive than the other ones shown for Honda CRV on the etrailer website, but it was the only one recommended for my 2022 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring. The hitch itself is really heavy duty and fits the car well. It looks really clean on the back of the car.

Installation took a lot longer than expected due to the tight space the hitch had to fit into and due to its weight. Had to use a jack to hold it up while I attached it. The attachment bolts provided were nonlocking, lock washers were provided instead. It took a while to get them to catch while tightening them. Another issue was that I had to remove the hands free liftgate sensor due to a lack of space behind the bumper cover. I am researching a sensor Honda sells for CRVs with trailer hitches that may fit. One more thing... I recommend that etrailer provide four spring wires rather than one for snaking the bolts through the brackets. If four had been provided, it would have been much easier to keep the bolts in place while lifting the hitch into place.

Overall, I am pleased with my purchase.

by:

Good product! Don’t install it by yourself get some help it easy for 2 people. Second time I bought products from etrailer and I’m happy about it

by:

The hitch was easy to install! I did it by myself. Watch their video as it helps to see what the directions say.

Wiring Harness was perfect. Make sure to open the UPPER panel for the connector!

This was the 3rd hitch and wiring harness I purchased from eTrailer and obviously I would not hesitate to buy from them again!

by:

I finally had this trailer hitch receiver installed on my CRV HYBRID. Wasn’t sure if my hatch sensor would still work after installation. BUT IT DOES??
Now I can carry my bike as well as moms wheelchair. GREAR QUALITY HITCH!

by:

I was able to install hitch receiver almost completely without assistance (needed a stabilizing set of hands to get two of the four nuts in place to hold the receiver up). The video on the website was an excellent reference and was better than the documents with the receiver. The fit with all bolts was much tighter than expected - to the point that I had to screw the bolt through the tow hook into place vs a simple push through and put the washers and nut on finger tight). I had to do a couple of re-threads of the hardware in one hole, with the last pulling the spring wire through the receiver hole to ensure it was not going to get shoved back up and all over the connection point bracket.
The foot kick sensor in the bumper was not well covered in video for the Touring model. It took a bit of contortionist effort to disconnect it and reconnect it to cut the small box out of the bumper, which added a bit of time.

The fit and finish of the receiver is nice. It is truly well hidden except for the square channel. I needed to use some dry lubricant on the first install as the paint created a bit of friction. A important bit of information to purchasers - the square channel is approximately 3" deep past the lock pin hole center. Slide in parts will hit the back of this specific receiver if they are made with longer steel tubing.

Would I go this route and install another - you bet.

by:

Works well- everything is super solid. I did need to get a larger pin for my rack, but that's no big deal. Am very happy to have a hitch on my hybrid.

2018 Honda CR-V

The EcoHitch trailer hitch was better than I had hoped for in a Class III hitch. The installation instructions were good and the installation went well. Having to lower the exhaust created a little more work than I would have liked, but still it was a fairly easy installation. I especially like the fact that the hitch is totally hidden behind the bumper, unlike many of the other manufacturer's hitches. I definitely recommend this hitch, if you are looking for a well built hidden hitch. It is somewhat more expensive than some of the competition, but for me it was worth it. The recommendation by Anna was accurate and a good choice.

by:

This hitch fits perfectly and I’m very satisfied. The installation time of two hours was more like three. I didn’t have a lift like the person in the installation video, so everything was done at ground level. This adds time to the process. I definitely recommend having a second person or even a third person to assist getting into place especially if your at ground level and someone has to slide under the car to secure the hitch to the frame. The directions call for a two inch cutout of the bumper to allow for the hitch. I found this to be too tight and cut out an additional 1/8” on each side for easier installation. Otherwise the snap in plugs keeping the under side cover in place didn’t line back up with the holes on the frame. The video online was a super help.

Needed to cut a half inch longer on the bumper. Other than that, it a perfect fit.

by:

First of all etrailer is super helpful. After spending lots of time trying to research online--which works pretty well on the etrailer site--you can just call and get personalized, human, informed advice--amazing. The hitch works great. Our hands-free foot sensor thing still works.

by:

I purchased this hitch along with the wire harness and installed it myself. I saved at least $150-$200 and one year later and still enjoying both. We use both to take the boat down to the lake and go fishing.

by:

Have only used a few times for a Thule bike rack, but the hitch does the job well

by:

Well made, clear instructions. Definitely a 2-person job. Very little space working around the frame on the CRV - could not get a torque wrench on all the nuts, so some were done via 'feel'. (I have enough mechanical experience to be confident in this, but just make sure they are tight enough!).

by:

These guys are great! Please don't go to [rental trailer company] and get the [ugly] hitch that hangs down. etrailer has a hitch that is completely hidden and looks great. Install was super easy.

This is a great hitch that tucks up under the rear bumper. It might be a bit more difficult to install but it's worth it.

Fascia trimming is required for all of the hitches that fit your 2022 Honda CR-V as that's just the way your vehicle was designed. There isn't a way to get a hitch opening under the bumper without having the hitch come through the fascia. This is a very common step needed on most modern vehicles. For your hybrid model though the EcoHitch part # 306-X7345 is the least visible and interferes the least with your hands free liftgate. It would be the hitch I would recommend.

Our fitguide can be somewhat confusing at times but the EcoHitch part # 306-X7345 that you referenced does fit the Hybrid and Touring models. It also fits the models that aren't Hybrid and Touring which is why you saw the message you mentioned. The trimming of the rear fascia is very minimal too so this would work great for you.
