This Generation III Classic Personal snowplow is the most recent innovation from SnowBear. This plow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch (sold separately) for easy, convenient mounting. It has a remote-controlled electric winch that will let you raise and lower the plow without leaving the warmth and comfort of your cab. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain. Angled trip springs are also built in to help keep the blade from catching and tripping.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

HITCH MOUNTING

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. Unlike a plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets, which ties you down to just 1 vehicle, this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

To install the Personal snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver . Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

How to Plow

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, or 22 degrees to the left or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote or the in-cab toggle switch, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the Personal snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

WINCH

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using a toggle switch that mounts in your cab. You can also use the included wireless remote control. The winch uses a durable nylon strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

If I could mark it at 4.5 stars I would. I like it the hitch.

I think it hangs down too low, only 8" off the pavement. I did not like to have to take off the tow hooks to install the hitch. I did like the idea of I sold the tow hooks for almost as much as I paid for the hitch.

I had to buy a hitch extender. ( I do not see the extender I bought on etrailer listed any more.) The extender put the hitch out far enough to clear the grill guard that I had installed. My goal was to have a place to mount my 8,000 pound winch. I can now slide the winch in the front receiver or the back factory receiver. I can now pull the truck out from either front or back.

This front mount hitch was just what we needed to haul our bikes when camping with the slide in camper. We had to take the bikes and a bike hitch off each time we had to get in the camper when we stopped. This front mount hitch saved us from having to do that. Also use it for a carrier to carry extra luggage. It came fast and it was very easy to install, just as advertised.

Better than a snowblower!! Made very well, had it put together and mounted in a couple hours. Used it for two small snowfalls and it worked as expected. Great customer service from etrailer!

by: Deb04/22/2019

Good North American made hitch. Clearance from tow hoops to ground a consideration. Bent one hoop back but only because the old logging road was that bad.

by: Paul10/18/2017

This worked out pretty well- drove it for the first time since installed it and it definitely has an affect on how the vehicle feels (I guess the added weight to the front end ) I wouldn't say bad but different. The hitch went on easy, had to trim a very small bit of the air dam maybe a quarter inch. I was worried it would have a impact on the aesthetics of the truck but I think it looks pretty awesome - also the price was the best I could find on the net

2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I bought a Snow bear personal plow and a separate Curt receiver hitch for the front of my 2012 F250.. after speaking with Erica W. several times due to blunders on my part, all was perfect. Quick delivery, price was right, items are super rugged. The stock photos don't do justice. My plow came in at 350 pounds without the receiver hitch. It's not a cheap toy plow. Get one, they'll fit nearly anything! Thanks Erica!!

by: Steven 04/17/2021

I am very happy with my Curt front mount trailer hitch receiver which I use for my rod and cooler holder for surf fishing. It is well constructed and assures me of many years of use. I would recommend Curt to anyone who would like a well built front hitch.

Works great for my surf rod rack on my 2012 Ram pickup.

by: Edward 04/20/2024

Works as designed!

by: Chuckie11/26/2019

This front receiver hitch is just what I needed for parking my boat in a very narrow location next to my residence---much shorter turning base having the hitch on the front of the vehicle vs the rear.

This product took just over an hour to install and was very easy with a "second" pair of hands.

will do the same on my next truck

Charles

12/24/2020

Used it several times this past year===I have a very small space to park my boat next to my residence-instead of using the rear hitch I use the front-it is much easier using the front hitch. Seasons Greeting and stay safe.

Quality product with clear installation instructions

by: Scott 09/18/2022

I live in the city. So our yards are really not designed to put a travel trailer in. I am using this front mounted hitch to swing my Trailmanor 3124KS our the back yard. Much cheaper option than a powered trailer jockey. Plus I can mount bike carrier, winch etc to the front with no problems.

Chevrolet Suburban

have had a curt front hitch before(98 Suburban) so was familiar with it.
pretty easy install.
hate loosing the factory tow hooks!!!! need to find a way around that.

no problem with product as far as manufacturing and quality. have on a 4x4 Ram 1500. hangs too low, drags if u cross the smallest ditch etc. also mounts to far in and when you put carrier into hitch it butts up against bumper and will not go in far enough to put the pin thru. havent been able to use it, just havent had time to take it off.

by: Robert09/09/2020

Easy to install. Works great with my home plow. Don't have to back up with trailers around the yard, precision trailering from the front. My only gripe is that if you buy a new truck to install this front mount hitch you will need two bolts unless you can fish out the existing bolts with a magnet. Save the fish wire that comes with the mount.

2019 Ram 1500 Classic

Perfect fit. Fishing wire made the install very easy. Took one person less than 30 minutes to complete.

by: Mark 07/07/2020

Product was an easy install, shipping was fast and customer service is always outstanding!
The hitch is barely noticeable and it didn’t need to cut the fascia.

Mark

7/8/2021

Works as advertised. Very easy to install didnt have to cut any bumper plastic. Holds up to the impact of having a plow connected to it.

by: Bennett 09/02/2023

Arrived on time and the hitch fit perfectly. Good quality.

2017 Ram1500

I wanted a front-mounted receiver hitch so I could push my travel trailer into its narrow parking spot. Backing in was challenging - I have a narrow curving driveway with rock walls on both sides.
I had a service garage install it for me - and it works great!
It does sit rather low so I have to lower my trailer's hitch to its lowest point so I can connect it to my truck.

by: David 12/27/2023

Fast delivery!

by: Dan 06/22/2022

Fit perfectly and works just like it should. Makes pushing my travel trailer into the barn much easier. The only thing that I would improve is to make it where I could still keep the factory tow hooks..

by: Mark03/05/2018

Perfect fit and installs as stated in the instructions. Trimming the valance is very minor, however it does not have to be done. Frame steel is real so don't go cheap on a drill bits.

Marcus

Working out great. Used for surf fishing basket. Does reduce ground clearance a hard two inches.

Do you have a question about this Snow Plow?

  • Solution for SnowBear Snow Plow that Wobbles When Raised Up While Traveling
  • I spoke with SnowBear about the issue you described and they said it sounds like you aren't using the safety chain that came with the plow which was designed for removing the play you are describing. There's more info on it on pages 13 and 14 in the manual of the plow. Secondly, vehicles with plows connected should NOT travel on roadways without the safety chain installed, as this may result in serious damage to the roadway, plow and vehicle and may cause serious injury to the operator.

  • Snowbear Plow Receiver Hitch vs Custom Mount
  • The biggest difference I have seen between the two style is in the amount of play they have side to side. While it isn't a ton there is more play in the single connection point than what you will get out of the custom frame bracket types. We carry both types here but given the choice I would go with the custom bracket version. If you plan on moving it from one vehicle to another from time to time then the hitch mount is the way to go for ease of use. There is a great option with custom

Front hitches typically aren't classified but this hitch is a 2 inch size like a Class III normally is and has higher capacities too at 9,000 lb line pull and 500 lb vertical load.

  • Line Pull Capacity of Curt Front Receiver # 31374 on 2012 Ram 1500 Versus Capacity of OEM Tow Hooks
  • I do not have any information regarding the capacity of the OEM tow hooks. The 9000 lb line pull refers to the fact that the receiver is capable of pulling 9000 lbs in a straight line from the receiver opening (not at an angle from side to side or up and down). In order to install the receiver, the OEM tow hooks would need to be removed. I do not have a photo of the receiver installed on a vehicle, as we have not yet had the opportunity to install one, but if you look at the installation

  • Will Curt Front Hitch 31374 Fit a 2WD Ram 1500
  • The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31374 fits an 2009-2018 Ram 1500, a 2019-2021 Ram 1500 excluding the Rebel or a diesel, and 2019-2022 Ram 1500 Classic excluding the Warlock. Curt has it listed as only fitting the 4WD models so I wouldn't try to use it with a 2WD Ram pickup. If you have a 2WD then you can use the Draw-Tite Front Hitch Receive # 65062 which is listed to fit a 2009-2018 Ram 1500 and then a 2019-2021 Ram 1500 Classic. This fits both the 2WD and 4WD model types.

  • Is Air Dam Trimming Required to Mount Curt Front Receiver on a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4
  • I went out to the warehouse to measure Curt front mount receiver # 31374 for you. From the top of the lower mounting flanges to the top of the receiver measure 4-1/8 inches. So it does sound like you will need to trim a little. Though you might be able to just bend the air dam in that location depending on how much overlap there is.
