Front Mount Hitch for 2017 Ram 1500
Question:
Im concerned with the loss of ground clearance when this mount is installed on my 4X4. Can you tell me the front ground clearance that would remain at the front of my truck with this installed? I drive into some scary places.

We have not had a chance to test fit the front-mount hitch that fits your 2017 Ram 1500 4WD - the Curt # 31374 - on a '17 model so there is not an exact distance from the ground to the bottom of the hitch available.
However, the installation will have you trim a 7-1/2" W x 1" H space from the bottom of your truck's fascia and will protrude roughly 2" from the bottom of your bumper fascia. What you can do is use this to measure from the ground and stop 2" to 3" which is going to give you an approximation of where the hitch will sit.
I'm not sure where you are driving that is scary but both the Curt # 31374 is going to be fairly close to the ground due to how close the front bumper is to the ground on your truck.

I recently purchased the Curt front mount trailer hitch for my 2013 Ram 1500 Sport. It installed very easily, and I didn’t have to trim any fascia. I will be only using it to get my boat and trailer (approximately 5k pounds) into a very tight area. Since the top of the hitch sits at 10” from the ground, I will need a ball mount with a considerable (~8”) rise. I see there are some available, but the hitch appears to sit too far back for the ball mount to be installed. I need a mount that is 8” from the center of the hitch pin to the part that begins to rise. Is an extender an option for me since I won’t really be towing at further than a 100 feet at a time?
