This time-delayed brake controller is designed to mount at any angle, even upside down. The controls are all up front for easy access, including a slide-bar manual override and a thumbwheel for braking output. LED indicator shows your braking status.
Features:
Specs:
The Tekonsha POD is designed to mount in any direction, and it's especially suited for mounting on near-vertical dashes. All the controls are on the front of the module, so you can still access them with the controller tucked away in a convenient place.
Braking output is the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes. How much braking output you need is determined by the weight of your trailer; a heavier trailer will need more power to bring it to a stop. You want to set the braking output as high as you can without locking up the brakes. Once you've set up the brake controller the first time, you shouldn't need to adjust the settings until the trailer load changes, you switch trailers, or road conditions change. Use the thumbwheel on the side to change the braking output level. The output setting will appear as a number on the digital display, with a higher number indicating higher braking power.
The Tekonsha POD keeps the manual override within easy reach on the front of the module, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in emergencies. Push the slide-bar lever to activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights without you having to apply the brakes on your tow vehicle, perfect for limiting trailer movement while you re cruising.
Because inertia plays no role in the functioning of this controller, you do not have to mount the unit at any particular angle. Your mounting options are limitless, with the controller designed with all of the controls on the front of the module so you can access them even if it's mounted upside down.
If your vehicle already has a plug-in brake controller wiring harness, just connect the unit to it. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a vehicle-specific wiring harness (sold separately) to plug into. If a harness is unavailable for your vehicle, hardwiring will be necessary.
See also etrailer.com's exclusive 7- and 4-way brake control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately) if you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle.
Note: If a custom brake control wiring adapter is not available for your vehicle, a 20-amp circuit breaker (sold separately) may be required for installation.
The Tekonsha POD comes equipped with time-delayed braking. Every time you apply the brakes in your vehicle, a signal is sent - via the brake switch - to the POD. The controller then sends power out to your trailer brakes to activate them with an intensity set by you, at a rate determined by you. The amount of braking power (output) can be adjusted to suit your preference, the road conditions, the type of trailer, and the weight of your load. To determine which levels are best for your application, test your towing setup and choose what feels right.

Install your electric brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the junction box beneath your vehicle's dashboard.
Features:
This adapter plugs into the 6-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. Older models will have the harness located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. Newer models have the harness under the dash, above the gas pedal.
To install your electric brake controller you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein these wires are run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Often, a brake controller wiring harness is included with your tow package. This harness plugs into a port beneath your dash and connects to the four wires of the brake controller. If, however, you have a brake controller with a plug in place of the four loose wires, you can use the Tekonsha adapter.
This adapter requires no hardwiring. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

Simple and economic.
I am by no means mechanically inclined but the ease of connecting adapter on one end and the other end into the unit was way easy on my 2017 Nissan Titan. Probably no longer than 30 minutes to install.
I purchased the 3050-P quick connect wire harness for the ease of installation.
My 2008 Nissan Titan has the big tow package and I needed an electric brake system.
All I had to do was remove two phillips head screws and the lower dash panel pulls off. Locate the factory brake harness which is taped up at the emergency brake and attach the two together. I routed the harness to the right side of the lower dash because I'm right handed but, there is enough wire to move it to other areas within reason.
I also purchased the pod Pro Series 80500 which serves 1 or 2 axel brake systems. I mounted it to my lower dash on the right side within reach and it plugs right into the wire harness.
I have not had chance to use the new system yet but, am confident that etrailer has sold me a system that will work for me.
I have had only one opportunity to test the Tekonsha brake controller, but I was very pleased with its performance. I won't say installation was easy, but got it done in a reasonable amount of time. Watching other how-to videos really helped.
We have a Honda Ridgeline and needed this for our camper trailer. It was nice ordering the specific plug in wire for the Ridgeline and therefore eliminating hard wiring, just plugged it in. It was rough getting to the factory plug under the dash by the emergency brake petal switch. My hands are not small enough, ha ha. But success was had. Plugged into the controller and mounted it and u-wall-a. It works the way it is suppose to, I like that. A good quality unit that does what it is suppose to. thanks.
Very happy with this product. It fit nicely in my truck and plugged right into the factory wiring harness. Total installation time was under an hour. Easy to adjust, and works perfectly with my 5th wheel trailer. I simply pulled out the little storage cubby from the dash, cut the back off, slid the controller in, bolted it together, and stuck it all back in the dash. Looks and works great.
Easy to install in my Toyota-Tacoma 2012. I pull my Travel Trailer and this break controller worked very well and with just a little bit adjustment. Also this item was shipped very fast.
I have a Toyota Tacoma (06). I had the controller installed in less than five minutes. One minute to gather the tools: drill/bits, screw driver, and tape. I thought tape would be helpful to hold the ground screw to the driver given the tight are under the dash. One minute to drill the ground hole. One minute to install the ground screw. One minute to plug in the cables and fish the wire under the stirring wheel to allow for the controller to be mounted in the storage area found on Tacoma trucks dash. I guess I was wrong. It only took four minutes. I did not need to put the tools away I was off to do other projects. I rate the product as good because I have not tried it on the trailer yet.
I received my purchase very quickly.
I just installed the control and wire harness today. Installation was easy, all you need are basic hand tools and a drill with a small bit.
Haven't had chance to test it out yet but, when I do I'll update.
Worked out perfectly for me, super easy installation with adapter harness. Work's flawlessly, easy one hand gain control with control's on front. My truck had nice cubby it fit in so out of the way and seamless look. Thanks for a great product and service.
Excellent quality of materials, fit perfectly fine on our 2018 Infiniti QX-60. Just make sure to take the cap off from the break connector in order to fit the plug and play wire harness. Cap is attached.
Thanks,
Alex S.

The product has been working flawless.
Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller And wiring harness purchased to pull 20’ enclosed trailer on my Infiniti QX 80. Installation was easy and correct the first time. Controller works great. Thank you etrailer
It was easy to use this short wiring harness to connect a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller to the factory installed under-dash connector on our new 2015 Xterra. ALL 2015 Xterras have that under-dash connector, regardless of trim level or model. Previous years may also, just look for the white 6-conductor connector that is taped to a wire bundle under the dash above the right side of the driver footwell (see my photo). The cable was just the right length to make the connection to the brake controller mounted to the plastic panel just up from the hood release tab (see the other photo). Because the brackets supplied with the controller would have placed the controller about an inch from the dash surface, creating a knee-banger situation, I instead use some industrial quality 3M dual-lock fastener (like velcro on steroids) to mount the controller. The controller is securely mounted right up against the dash panel, but is still is removable, if needed.
If you also need a rear 7-way connector harness and the relays that all plug into the factory installed connectors, I highly recommend #118266. It provides everything you will need except for the bracket to mount the 7-way connector to the bottom lip of the rear bumper, see #TM76474.
I sell and install a variety of components for various companies and individuals. I have zero comebacks from this company. Not that I haven't received defective parts but they always make it right. And that is good business.
Thanks to etrailer’s video “Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee”, the installation of a Tekonsha PowerTrac controller on my 2003 Jeep was very straight forward (and I’m not a car guy!). Like in the video, I used the wiring kit (#5506). I forgot to order a pigtail wiring harness but was able to pick one up locally. Took the trailer out last weekend and the brakes worked great.
The controller was a great option for our 2021 forest river FSX and gave me plenty of control over the brakes. It does require a adjustment time to time but has always worked when brakes are applied. The setup and installation were a breeze and has worked for many trips.
I received the Prodigy 3 brake controller very quick. It was a plug and play. Installation was completed in less than 30 minutes. Etrailer are the best.
Have used the power track for a year with city and interstate travel and a 4000# single axle TT. Working flawlessly on my 20 Blazer using a bypass stoplight switch.
I am still very much satisfied with my Tekonsha brake system and harness. It has continued to work flawlessly and has prevented an accident on more than one occasion. I’m glad I spent the little bit extra considering the ease of installation and continued reliability!
The control works great. Nice incremental application of wheel from nothing to hard on! Led light goes from green to red also in incremental degrees. Installation was a snap in my 2008 F150 with tow package. Just Plug in the control clip and the other end in the terminal above and to the right of the computer check terminal. Rather than have it below my dash I opted for the cove below the lighter. Etrailer did a nice job of getting out to me right away and kept me informed where this was at all the way to my door. Good Job!
The brake controller we purchased and had professionally installed works perfectly. We had it installed in our RV for use when towing a large vehicle trailer. It's reliable and simple. It was a great purchase!
Janet was very helpful in answering my questions and helping me select the correct trailer brake controler for my 2007 Nissan Frontier. Didn't need to cut and crimp wires, it was all plug and play. I needed it ASAP and got it in two days. It's good to have customer service in the U.S. and not have to struggle with foreign accents. Thanks etrailer!

The controller and cable are still working well, no problems.
Product arrived quickly and installed very easily. Plug and play with the correct adapter (3035-P Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury) for a 2001 Ford F-150. Controller is very easy to set the braking on your trailer.
Fast delivery and the product was as easy to install as shown in the installation videos on your website.
Installed on 2003 Toyota Tundra with the factory tow package. Installation was a breeze with the included vehicle specific wiring adapter. It took me about 45 minutes total. Looks professionally installed. Easy to use. Set the adjustment for your specific trailer and go!
