Snowplow Installation

Front or rear mount? Versatility is the SnowSport LT's middle name.

Push frame diagram

Installation is quick and simple - just slide the included shank assembly into your 2" hitch receiver and secure with pin.

Woman lifting blade

Once the plow frame is connected, attach the blade by lifting one end at a time onto the frame's holders. The lightweight aluminum blade construction makes lifting or adjusting an easy, one-person job. Secure the blade in either the transport or plowing position with the plow's snap pins. The low-profile design won't block your headlights, and the transport position is secure enough for highway travel.

How to Plow

Plow

If using with a rear-mount receiver, simply lower the blade to plow position and back up as usual. For a front-mounted plow blade, just drive forward with the blade in the plow position. The unique design takes the hassle out of plowing: This device has no hydraulics or complicated wiring. The push frame on the shank assembly allows the blade to move along the grade of the terrain for easier, more efficient plowing. The heavy-duty rubber cutting edge is effective yet turf friendly, collecting snow and squeegeeing slush without digging into the ground.

Reverse

When you are ready to reverse your driving direction, the blade lies back, skimming over the surface of the ground until you change direction again to plow.

Blade markers help you guide your plow

Handy blade markers extend vertically from the ends of the plow to help you see where you are plowing.

Backing Up

With the SnowSport LT, plowing snow is as easy as backing out of your driveway. Once you are finished plowing, simply lift the blade, refasten it in the transport position and head off for work or errands.

Video Transcript for Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on this 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty we are going to be installing front mount hitch part number 31109 from Curt. We are here looking at the passenger side frame rail. And you can see from the bottom we have got an existing bolt, an existing access hole, and then an existing regular sized hole as well. We are going to be fishing through the carried bolt block through this hole. We are going to pull it down into position using the fish wire that is provided with the installation kit. We are also going to be using this larger bolt here on the side of the frame. We are going to be removing it and replacing it with the new one that is provided in the installation kit. That is going to provide our vertical attachment point for the trailer hitch.

We are going to start by removing the nut here that is holding our bolt on to the tow hook and pop that out and put the new hardware in place. It may help to go ahead and loosen this bolt up as well on both sides. That will help to let us remove this hex bolt that is in the way here and give us a little bit of room to maneuver the tow hook up and out a little bit. Okay with the vertical bolt removed we can go ahead and fish our carriage bolt block into place. We are going to be using the 1/ 2 inch bolt leader that is provided with our installation kit. And feed it through the hole that we are going to be pulling the block and bolt down through and back out through the access hole. We will start by feeding the block on to the bolt leader and then wrapping the threads of the bolt with the bolt leader itself. Just pull it in through the hole. We can go ahead and put the hitch up.

We are going to be attaching these carriage bolts using the 1/ 2 inch flange nuts that were provided with the installation kit. Next we are going to go ahead and put into place the new 1/ 2 inch by 4 1/ 2 inch hex bolts. We also want to install the flat washer here. And we are going to take and feed from the outboard side through to the inboard side where we will attach it with another 1/ 2 inch nut. Now we are going to go back through and tighten everything down evenly. Now we are going to go back through and torque them down to their specified torque rating. You can find that torque rating listed in your directions. And that will conclude the installation of hitch part number 31109 on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty.

It arrived in a timely manner and everything was there. But just like other reviews the packaging was weak and the receiver hitch was able to move around inside the oversize box, but thats was no big deal. Also like other reviews the bolts are too short. Tightened all the way down, the bolt is just a thread short of being flush with the nut. Which is disappointing to know after the reviews stating as such. I thought e-trailer would have rectified that. But it's on, and seems to be strong and good fit.

Fine, except I wish I would have ordered and installed the one that is higher off the ground. I didnt want to cut a hole in the front so I got the one that installed underneath. Its lower than Id like it to be. Ive bumped the ground a few times.

I have a trailer/boat storage business and use my front hitch often. It has made moving trailers a lot easier! I highly recommend this product!

I was a little surprised with the snow plow. I thought it was going to be hydraulic/electric. It does okay, going on flat and slight declines. Inclines not so good. I also. Bought a rear trailer hitch. Very pleased with it.

Heavy duty and heavy, I had it installed by myself (with the help of a floor jack)in less than 30 minutes, love it. Now UPS, the shipper leaves a lot to be desired. Good thing the hitch was built great because the packaging was destroyed.

2009 ChevroletSilverado

I bought this about an year ago for my 2009 Chevy Silverado to push 28 ft trailer. This thing saves my life every time when I need to push my trailer back to the back of the driveway. I have a narrow driveway and long too. In the past I will have to try many times to back in the trailer. Now with the front hitch the back in is much more easier. However I do find one thing that is not expected, the hitch is way too low that I am not able to use my flip folder jack foot, it does not have enough clearance to make it fully stand. I have to get a jack to lift the trailer in order to have the flip folder stand to support the trailer. But for the regular trailer jack is OK.

Curt's front mount hitch reveiver is resonably priced, stoutly made, and finished with what appears to be a solid shiney black powder coating. I especially like the fact that the receiver is positioned just below the front license plate so no modifications are needed to the front fascia, or removal of license plate to utilize. Hitch was shipped in a stout cardboard box, but not much internal padding. This seems to be Curt's standard method, as I also purchased a 34" hitch extension and was packaged similarly. The items are not likely to become damaged in shipping, but a lil more thought and effort could be put into their shipping methods. But for the value and quality you recieve that's a minor issue. Love Curt products!!!

Easy install took about 20 minuets. Good quality with all installation hardware needed included.

I have a 2008 Silverado. The Hitch was installed in less than an hour. The pair of bolts that are installed through the frame seem to be slightly short but remember this unit is installed in shear, meaning that the loads applied to this hitch are perpendicular to the bolt, so the nut just needs to hold the bolt in place. You still need to torque to german specs "good n tight" (haha). the bolt will come flush to the nut face. All in all a very simple clean install. Im using this for a Myers Home Plow, which also installed simply.

2007 Chevy 2500 HD

Very well built, good fit and finish and very sturdy. Installed in about 1/2-hour. The "square hole spacer" for the carriage bolt had to be fed through the front of the frame rail (past the tow hook) as it was ever so slightly wider than the hole underneath the frame rail where the instructions show it being fed. I agree that the hex bolts could be about 1/4" to 1/2" longer, but once tightened the bolt is flush with the end of the nut. I'm glad I purchased this as now I can use my 12,000 lb. winch (& winch cradle) on both the front and back of my 2007.5 Chevy 2500HD.

This Curt 31109 front hitch went on a 2009 GMC 2500 Sierra crew cab with a Duramax Diesel. Shipping was incredibly fast - just 1 day! The hitch appears well built and nicely finished - and it's made right here in the USA! It fit perfectly and was very easy to install. No trimming of bumper plastic was required. My wife and I are retired and we use this truck to pull a large 5th wheel trailer or carry a truck camper. We will transporting our bicycles on the front hitch. I should have done this earlier.

Install was quick and easy
Bolts that
go through frame were 1/4”too short.
Works great!

2008 GMC 2500 HD

Everything went as lined out in the video. I would of liked to of had longer bolts to be able to use locknuts, but went ahead and used the supplied hardware. But everything went smoothly. The only other thing I could suggest is using a little bit longer plate for the carriage bolt, as the frame on my gmc 2500hd was wide enough for the carriage bolt and metal plate to spin. I was able to get it tight enough for it to quit spinning though and get the 110lbs of torque.

All in all a good product and it fits very well.

by: Rocky06/09/2014

Item was as described and installed easily. The bolt that fits thru the frame that holds in the tow hook should be longer in my opinion as I think the bolt should always stick out the nut a certain amount. THe fit was great and the customer suoort is excellent.

by: Alan02/21/2019
2009 ChevroletSilverado

Arrived in one piece, although the packaging could have been better. the box should have been fitted better to the hitch as the hitch had too much room to move around in the box with the box being damaged. Box needed tape to secure the holes punched in the side of the box.

product looks good but the other reviews that i read the two bolts are to short. I had to buy 5 inch bolts to get more than 3 threads tight. This would be an easy fix for you to do.

  • Front Hitch Option for 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500
  • Due to the design of the front of your 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 the only place you'll be able to have a front hitch opening is below the front fascia like where the Curt # 31108 installs. This would be best option we have, but if you really needed something that sits higher you'd probably need to find a fabricator who would be willing to modify the front fascia of your truck and see if they could install one higher.

  • Curt Front Hitch 31109 Compatibility with Minute Man 2 Snow Plow Mount
  • In most cases a front-mount hitch and a snowplow mount will install at the same points on the vehicle frame and usually they will interfere with each other. There could be a certain combination of hitch and plow that might avoid this common-mounting-point issue but it is unlikely since both items need a very strong mounting point on the vehicle in order to function. Makers of aftermarket products do not test their products fits along with other aftermarket items since there are so many

  • Can a Front Mount Trailer Hitch be Used for a Bike Rack on a 2010 GMC Sierra 2500HD
  • It is possible to use a bike rack on a front mount trailer hitch like # 31109, but you will want to consider a few things before doing so. First, it could hinder driver visibility, not much, but there is a chance that the top of the bikes will sit above the hood, so you may not be able to see as much of the road right in front of you. Second, the bikes may block the head lights or other indicating lamps on the truck which could be dangerous. If you cannot put the bikes in the rear because

  • Ground Clearance & Angle of Curt Front Mounted Hitch on 2010 Chevy Silverado Super Duty
  • For your 2010 Chevy Silverado Super Duty truck, the Curt Front Mounted Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31109 is a confirmed fit. The ground clearance will be dependent on your wheel size and your suspension. I reached out to my tech contact at Curt and confirmed this hitch will be right up against the bumper, so if you measure from the bottom of your bumper 2-3/4 inches, that will be your ground clearance with this hitch. The receiver will sit level as long as your truck frame is level.

  • Why Would Curt Hitch 31109 Seem to Be too Narrow to Install on Truck
  • Sometimes hitches can get slightly bent during shipping and this can be fixed by bending the hitch back into place as long as the hitch only has a slight bend to it. If yours isn't lining up I can almost guarantee that is what happened. Some people will use open steps for leverage, vices and even car jacks to apply controlled force to bend the hitch back. You will want to look for flaking paint and physical stress marks on the hitch before and after you attempt to bend the hitch back.
