Snowplow Installation

Push Frame

Installation is quick and simple - just slide included shank assembly into your 2" receiver and secure with pin.

Snap Pins

Then lift the blade, one end at a time, onto the frame's holders and fasten with snap pins.

Plow blade showing 3-point directions

The SnowSport HD blade is mounted on an angled, 3-position shank assembly, allowing you to plow to the left, to the right or straight ahead.

How to Plow

Plow

To plow, lower the blade and begin driving; no wiring or hydraulics are needed. The unique push frame on the shank assembly allows the blade to move along the grade of the terrain for easier, more efficient plowing. The heavy-duty rubber cutting edge is effective yet turf friendly, collecting snow and squeegeeing slush without digging into the ground.

Reverse

When you reverse direction, the blade lies back, skimming over the surface of the ground so that you can easily take another pass.

Backing Up

Once you're finished plowing, just lift the blade and refasten into the travel position. The blade is secure enough to travel at highway speeds, and the low-profile design keeps it from blocking your vehicle's headlights. Removal for storage is quick and easy. The plow can be used on the rear of your vehicle, making it a cinch to back out of your snow-packed driveway.

Video Transcript for Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Silverado

Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Chevrolet Silverado we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 31322. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. This hitch will be a great way to use certain add-ons with your truck such as winches, snow plows, cargo carriers, bike racks and even occasionally a ball mount, if you need to move a trailer around. On the side of our receiver, you'll find your industry standard five-eighth of an inch diameter hitch pin hole. On the end of our receiver, you'll find this collar that's welded on to give us a nice finish look, and to help reinforce the receiver opening, giving us some added strength. This hitch features a 500 pound max tongue weight rating, which is the amount forcing down. It has a 5,000 pound max gross trailer weight rating, which is the amount it can pull.

It also features a 9,000 pound straight line pull rating. Now for a few measurements to better assist you in choosing any hitch mounted accessory you may need, such as your bike rack, cargo carrier, winch mounting plate, or snow plow. You're looking at about 13 and 3/4 inches from the ground to the top of the two inch receiver opening, and about eight inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the front most part of the bumper. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed. To begin our install, we'll be working at the front left of our Silverado on the inside of the frame rail. We'll start by removing these two 21 millimeter nuts that are in place from the factory. Now we'll remove these two 18 millimeter bolts.

The front one here we have to have an 18 millimeter wrench on the back side holding the nut still as we remove it. And here's the nut. Now we'll take our drivers side bracket, and we'll hang it on the two bolts, and we'll loosely thread on the nuts, just to hold it in place. Now, the bolt that we removed from the front bottom hole, we're going to reverse the orientation of it, so we'll flip it like this and install it from the outside of the frame going through our bracket. Now we have two washers. We need to put these two washers between the bracket and they'll go on to this bolt here, so it'll go on this bolt between the bracket and the frame.

Now we'll loosely thread on our nut. Now we'll take two more washers, and we'll slide them between our frame and the frame bracket, and then run our bolt through them. Now you can see what the washers look like in place, hanging on the bolts in between our frame and the frame bracket. Our passenger side is a little bit different. All of our hardware is on the outside of the frame and not on the inside. For our front bolt on the bottom here again, we will need to have an 18 millimeter wrench, holding the nut still on the inside.

We'll remove this 18 millimeter bolt, and we'll remove those two 21 millimeter nuts. Now, on these two bolts where our 21 millimeter nuts were, they are on a plate. We need to knock these bolts out and reverse the orientations so they'll come through on the outside. When they're knocked free, we can grab the plate, pull it out, and our bolts come with it. We'll now take that plate and place it through on the outside. We'll now place our long bolt through the front hole on the bottom, and we'll reinstall the short bolt in the back hole. We can tighten that bolt down now. On our bottom bolt here, place on two washers, place our bracket on, and reinstall the nuts. We'll leave these loose. Now with an extra set of hands we'll raise our hitch in between our brackets, take our carriage bolt, go through the hitch, through our bracket, and we'll thread on our flange nut. We get one started on each side. Now that we have one started on each side, we'll get our other ones to start as well. Now we'll take our fish wire. We'll go through the hole and our hitch, bring it off to the side for a second. Now we'll place on two flat washers on our pull wire. We'll slide those flat like that. We'll slide on this oval spacer shim on our pull wire. Make sure that sits flat against the hole, and we'll take the pull wire, go through the hole and the frame, and I'll push the pull wire up where it'll come out this access hole in the frame. And place our block under the wire, push it inside, and we'll thread our carriage bolt on. Push that in, and we'll start to pull it through our frame. With our bolt through, we can remove our pull wire. We'll now thread on our flange nut.Now we can begin the process of tightening all the hardware since it's all in place. Use an 11/16 socket to tighten down the carriage bolts. For this one here, next to our frame horn, you will need a wrench to tighten it. Now we'll tighten down our frame brackets to the frame. Now we'll torque all of our hardware to the amount specified in the instructions. And that completes our look at and showing you how to install the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 31322, on this 2012 Chevrolet Silverado.

The hitch came packaged in a double box. The outer box had some damage but the hitch did not.
I read the instructions, making sure i had the correct tools, and jacked my truck up.
The install took three hours as i was layiing on my back with simple hand tools.
The parts all fit and i am happy with the outcome. Good price, simple instructions, good fit.

It worked out great, I use a winch, and can move it to the front or rear as needed.

I bought the Curt front hitch for the purpose to haul my Honda Generator on the Torklift Lock and Load in front of my 2009 Chevy Silverado. The installation is self explanatory, but I still watched the video provided by e-trailer, and it made it that much easier to put in. Especially by myself. It works perfectly for the purpose I bought it for.

Excellent product. Always pleased with Curt products. Quality built with easy to install video provided by etrailer. Shout out to Alex at etrailer for getting me the exact fit for my 2007 Chevy Silverado. Good job etrailer. Received with 4 days of order placement

This product fit my needs perfectly. I purchased this hitch to mount a bicycle rack to the front of my pickup truck as I did not want to add weight to the back of my camp trailer on the flimsy bumper that is standard, and did not want to spend a fortune on a hitch that needed drilled or welded to my camp trailer. I looked at several options, and this appeared to be the best choice. With the video instructions and an hour of time, I had this hitch installed and bicycle rack in place. This product was relatively easy to install, and will suit my needs very well. Thank you etrailer!

High quality product. Good instructions and all the necessary parts. Had to buy a 21mm socket and use a racket strap to pull stabilizing bar back a little to reach hole in frame but no big deal.

After a season of plowing snow in Alaska my hitch is as good as new. It’s a lighter duty plow don’t still went through some abuse this last winter. No regrets on my purchase.

Ordered for mounting a winch on the front of my Silverado.
Free shipping was appreciated and quite fast. Received it in 3 business days because of my location.
Instructions were included and simple.
Product was well protected and packaged great.
Installation went as well as expected. I had slight alignment difficulty due to a deer committing suicide via my truck this past fall, but that wasn’t the products fault. Took me just over an hour total from setting up to tearing down.
Good quality bolts make for ease of mind.

Overall highly recommend. Great company. Even followed up with an email to make sure everything was good.
Will purchase from then again when needed.

I have a "new body" Silverado, so I had to return the first hitch and get this one. Even with the VIN, etrailer wasn't sure which one I needed. Once identified, the other was returned and this one was shipped fast (as usual). The video for the install help didn't include the big square hole "spacer", which must go along with the bolt inside the frame. This doesn't stop the bolt from spinning anyway, but it tightened up fine. I DID have to use a die grinder to open up the frame hole about 3/8". Nice hitch, for the new plow.

Installed on my 2010 Silverado. Installation video was most helpful. Took about 2 hours to install which could have been shortened if I would have followed directions and not tightened bolts until the end. Product is good and customer service was as well. Would highly recommend.

Good solid American made product, Good price (I couldn't build it for that) Instructions where good, hour installation w/air tools, shipping was fast and free, all hardware was there (nothing missing). I would order again and would recommend.

Almost easy to install, for some reason alignment was difficult with the small bolts. Still not bad. Very happy overall.

It was not as easy yo install as the video seems to suggest. I had planned to do it myself with the truck on ramps, but had to get someone with a lift to do it. Once the plates were mounted the main part didn't line up just right and it took more pressure than I could apply while lying on my back. Other than that it is great. Very strong and just what I needed.Thanks.

Beauty install. Just had to trim a 2x2inch slot in the air dam under the bumper. Didn't have to touch the facia. You can hardly see the receiver.
No drilling!!!

The questions that you answer about what truck you have do not get all the way to the correct model. So then when you scroll through the available products, it is showing products for different models that dont apply to your truck(like the 1500, 2500, 3500 etc). However, you dont realize this as you just finished putting in the inputs for your vehicles and then of course assume that the list they give you of available products would only include your vehicle since they say "confirmed fit" for your model. They sent me the hitch for the gmc sierra 1500, which does not fit my 2500 GMC and then want me to pay the $50 to send it back. It seems like the designers of the website should have finished the job before they went to lunch. Now I am out the money.

Bought this hitch to add a plow to my 1/2ton truck the hitch was delivered with two of the same mounting brackets (passenger side) contacted them about problem and they said we will ship you the right bracket… bracket showed up and it had looked like it was dropped and slid across the pavement with multiple scratches and chips out of the paint. Not the happiest with the product since it’s not even on the truck yet. Over all the hitch it self is built well just horrible handling of products!

Curt Front Trailer Hitch arrived quite fast.
The
hitch is very sturdy and attaches to the sturdy tow hooks.
The instructional video was very helpful especially for the step where you "fish" a bolt through the front frame rail. Turned out to be simple with the included fishwire. The video was for a 2007 Silverado but it was exactly the same as for my 2010 1500 Silverado.
Best installed with a helper at one point on a lift, but I installed it by myself using a pair of wheel ramps, a creeper, and a small hydraulic jack to lift the hitch into place for fitting and installation.

Why install a front hitch? When maneuvering a trailer in tight quarters, it is hard to do it with the trailer connected to the back of the tow vehicle. You have to keep straight which way to turn the steering wheel and the trailer's turning is slow to respond so you often turn too far and have to start over. With the trailer attached to the front of the vehicle, you can push the trailer into a tight place easily since the trailer responds immediately to steering changes. And, you can easily and immediately see the changes to the trailer's path. And you can also pull the trailer out of a tight path easily.

I grew up on a farm always pulling and pushing trailers into exact spots. I quickly found how great a front end hitch is for maneuvering.

2008 GMC Sierra

I ordered both the front and rear Curt class 3 hitches for my 2008 Gm sierra. The factory rear hitch had rusted from the inside and had split all the way across. This new hitch is a lot more heavy duty , with thicker metal and the ends are sealed to keep water out. I liked it so much , I ordered this front hitch to use our bicycle rack on front when we pull our camper . Did not know how to carry our bikes until I ran across this hitch on Trailer. I think it will solve our problem . Thanks etrailer !!! Also had best price, got free shipping, prompt service, and excellent customer service !! Will definitely order from them again !!!

Snowsport PlowEtrailer.com does it right from start to finish. On top of having a great web site, the staff are the best.
Keeping in mind, I ordered this in December, about 5 days before our first big snow, here in Ohio. Within an hour of ordering my SnowSport HD plow, I was upgraded to special priority shipping, that was a nice surprise! The plow arrived in about two days, in three boxes, as I ordered the front hitch at the same time. I feel bad for my UPS carrier, these boxes were not for the faint of heart. The assembly went smoothly, the manufacturer uses high end parts and everything is well marked and the instructions are easy to follow. I estimate it took me two hours to get everything put together, with a coffee break in between. I am impressed with the construction, wow. Heavy duty is right!
We had four inches of snow yesterday. I opened the garage door and went to work, two pushes to clear the parking spots, and one easy push down the two hundred foot gravel driveway. Like butter.
I was done. It took less then 15 minutes. I put this blade on my 2003 rear wheel drive, not 4x4, Chevy Blazer. I backed into the garage and it looked like I had just put the blade on, this blade could last a long time. I love it. I cant wait until we get a foot or more of snow, my wife wants to plow next time. Plus I have cable chains comming from Etrailer, they should be here any day. Just in case my two wheel drive has tracktion problems in the deeper snow. Thanks a bunch, Etrailer!

2011 Honda Ridgeline

We installed this on our 2011 Honda Ridgeline and a week later it snowed... And snowed.... And snowed.. 5 feet in 24 hours ( we live on the lake near Buffalo) and it's still snowing... This wasn't good, it was AWESOME! It was an easy install and assembly and worked absolutely perfect! We have a tough driveway and this kept it clear with no issues, no problems and we used it all day and night! When you spend that much on something you've never even seen before you can have reservations... It's worth every penny. It's solid ( more than we thought it would be) and does the job with ease. No .. It's good, but...... It's exactly as advertised and etrailer not only had the best price, the communication with my order was exceptional. Now... If only the town could send a plow down my street.....

Fit between the mounting brackets on my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 was a little tight but it bolted up just fine.
Looks very well made.
I removed the lower front air dam ( I didn't like it anyway) & it fit perfectly underneath the bumper & license plate mount.

Will be using the front hitch skid shield with this.

Grant I.

10/22/2014

FYI: The air dam is there to help with aerodynamics on the underside of the truck. In short, it helps make the truck more fuel efficient. No harm in removing it if you dont mind burning a bit more fuel.

by: Rick01/12/2023

etrailer was awesome as usual. I did have an issue with the product (Curt) having an incorrect part (two right side brackets, no right side bracket) which prevented installation of the receiver, Spoke with Dave at etrailer who initiated a fix for the problem right away. Cudos to Dave and etrailer but one star for Curt.

by: Christopher 09/30/2022

Worked well with snowplow

by: Will11/12/2022

Seems to be well made but was disappointed in two areas. I'm glad etrailer had a video of the install because the directions provided were very vague. The other issue was the bolt hole on the bracket that bolted to my crossmember didn't line up. I had to take the receiver back off the truck and elongate the hole in the receiver.

by: Phillip 03/20/2020

I bought this hitch so I can move my travel trailer better and also to use my bike rack more efficiently. I am going to have my garage install it since I do not have an impact wench to turn the bolts. So I hope this some help Phil

  • Curt Front Hitch for 2009 Chevy 3500 HD 4x4
  • There is a Curt front mount hitch that will work on your 2009 Chevy Silverado, but the Curt Hitch # 31322 that you referenced is only for 1500 model trucks. You would want a Curt Front Hitch # 31109. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product for you to check out also. This hitch has a 500 lb vertical load limit so it should do well to carry a generator and cargo carrier as long as the combined weight is less than that. To see all of the cargo carriers

Draw-Tite also offers the # 65050 which will sit up higher, just under the bumper, instead of just under the fascia, so you'll have better ground clearance at the front if you went this route. • The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31322 and Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65052 are the 2 options available for a front mounted receiver on your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Both of these receivers will sit below the bumper and have identical load ratings of 500lbs tongue weight, 5,000lbs trailer capacity and 9,000lbs line pull. The main difference is in the construction of the 2 parts and where they mount to the frame. The Draw-Tite # 65052 is all welded

  • How To Mount a SnowBear ProShovel SnowPlow On a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • The SnowBear ProShovel SnowPlow mounts using a standard 2" receiver tube according to my research therefore in order to use this on a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 you only need the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 31322 which is a drill free option that can be used for several other purposes when you are not plowing such as helping back-up a trailer, mounting a winch, etc. If your SnowBear SnowPlow does not mount using a standard 2" receiver tube then please re-verify

  • Will the Fisher MM2 Snowplow Mounting Brackets Work With a Front Mount Hitch Receiver
  • I do have an option that will allow you to attach a snowplow to the front of your 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 but the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 31322 will not work with the Fisher MM2 Mount Kit as they both occupy the same space on the frame rails. For a snowplow that will work well with a 2" front mount trailer hitch receiver and your Chevy Silverado 1500, I recommend using the Detail K2 Avalanche Snowplow part # K2AVAL8219. The Detail K2 Avalanche has an 82" wide

  • Front-Mount Hitch Installation on 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
  • We do offer two front-mount 2-inch hitches for your 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 including the Curt # 31322 that you referenced. We have an installation video showing a 2007 Silverado that you can see by clicking on the included link. Also the written instructions are linked for you at right. Installation requires removal of the air dam, if present, but Curt does not specify that it requires trimming, although this may be an option if you'd rather not remove it entirely. All required

  • Can Curt Front Hitch # 31322 Install on 2013 Chevy Silverado with Lift Kit
  • Adding a lift kit should not affect fit of Curt trailer hitch # 31322 on your 2013 Chevy Silverado unless the devices used to lift the truck occupy any space needed by the hitch or any of the attachment points on the frame needed by the hitch. I have included a link to the installation details for this front mount hitch so you can determine if there would be any fit issues.

  • Distance From Center of Hitch Pin Hole To Bumper on CURT Front Mount Trailer Hitch # 31322
  • I contacted our representative at CURT about the CURT Front Mount Trailer Hitch # 31322. He informed me that the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole, to the front edge of the bumper measures approximately 7 inches. We do not have a Hidden Hitch front mount hitch available for the 2011 Silverado, but we do have a Draw-Tite model, part # 65052. The Draw-Tite hitch distance should be near the same distance as the CURT hitch as it will sit near the same location. When using

  • Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation for a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500
  • For installation of Curt front mount trailer hitch # 31322 you may or may not need to use the washers on the driver's or passenger's side attachment points. If there was enough of a gap between the side mounting brackets and the cross member of the hitch then you would use them. The square piece you mentioned is a block used to prevent that center carriage bolt from spinning when tightening the nut. It is possible it won't be needed but the only way to know is to fishwire the bolt through

  • Recommended Front Mount Hitch for 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab
  • I do have an option for you, however the Curt Front Mount Hitch Receiver # 31322 referenced in your question is not confirmed to fit your 2015 GMC Sierra. This particular hitch is designed for earlier models of the Sierra 1500 (2008-2013) and will not fit with the frame on your 2015 model. If you have the Sierra 1500, I instead recommend the Curt Front Mount Hitch # C31069. This hitch is confirmed to fit your truck and it features a simple, bolt-on installation. It has a line pull rating
