The Bulldog Recovery Strap part # BDW20014 is made of polyester which is slightly stretchy. Polyester and Nylon like the Erickson Recovery Strap part # EM59600 are the two main materials used for tow strap construction and both are elastic. The difference between the recovery and tow straps has to do with how the manufacturer designed it. Some of them have hooks instead of loops for the vehicles, some of them are retractable, and some of them use more chain than material. This will work, but it will be a tight fit. I recommend going with the Bulldog Winch Bow Shackle # BDW20117. This has an opening of 1-3/4" which will be plenty to fit the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045. You can then use tow strap such as Erickson Recovery Strap # EM59600.

Most people will say that if you damage a tow strap you really just need to replace the entire thing as it was obviously stressed to the point of failure and would likely fail again if fixed. I would not recommend attempting to repair what looks like a tow strap that's seen quite a bit of stress. On the vehicle that is in the ditch, you will need to find a solid connection point like a tow hook or the vehicle frame. The more centered this connection point, the better for the vehicle in the ditch. You will pass one end of the Recovery Strap, # EM59600, around the frame and use a Tow Strap Cinch Bone, like # BC-902, to hold it in place.
