What is the Difference Between a Tow/Recovery Strap and a Snatch Strap
Question:
What kind of tow/recovery straps are there and what are the differences? For example, I read about a snatch strap. How is that different? I know about the storage of kinetic energy, but am wondering what kind is best for your average, all around towing needs.

The difference between the recovery and tow straps has to do with how the manufacturer designed it. Some of them have hooks instead of loops for the vehicles, some of them are retractable, and some of them use more chain than material. I have attached a link to our selection of straps that you can filter through to choose the best one for your towing needs.
You will want to choose a strap that has the correct length and weight capacity for what you are trying to tow. Although some of the straps are more popular, like the Bulldog Winch # BDW20030, none of them are poor decisions. The Bulldog Winch # BDW20030 is the most popular because of the 10,000-lb working load limit and the 30 foot length of the strap. This makes it one of the most versatile straps that we have to offer.
The Erickson Tow Strap # EM59704 that you referenced is another great option. The main difference in this strap is that it has a working load limit of 7,500 lbs instead of 10,000 like the Bulldog Winch alternative.
As far as the difference between a tow/recovery strap and a snatch strap, I couldn't find much except that online they say that the snatch strap is for more of a heavy duty towing situation. As long as you have a strap that is rated for over the weight of the vehicle you are towing you will be just fine using a regular tow strap.
I have attached review videos for both straps that were mentioned.
