  • Best Heavy Duty Frame Mount Trailer Hitch for a 1979 Chevrolet K2500
  • The trailer hitch option we have that I recommend for a 1979 Chevrolet K2500 is the B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver part # BWHDRH25198. The B&W hitch is top of the line and has the highest towing capacity we offer at 16,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 1,600 lbs tongue weight. The best part of all is that it features a no drill installation. This trailer hitch will do an excellent job of helping you safely and securely tow your toy hauler. In regards to towing with the rear bumper,...

  • Troubleshooting Green Light on Display of Tekonsha Voyager 39510 All the Time
  • The green light on the display of the Tekonsha Voyager part # 39510 indicates that a trailer is connected. If you are seeing this all the time on the controller that would indicate that you most likely have some corrosion on the pins of your trailer wiring connector which is tricking the controller into thinking a trailer is connected. This is a very common issue so I'd almost guarantee it's the issue. I attached a help article on brake controller troubleshooting for you to check out as well.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring that When Connected Causes Issues on Vehicle Wiring
  • Sounds like the trailer wiring has some issues. Most likely a short or grounding problems. I know that's not very specific but your best option is to start at the trailer connectors and make sure they are clean and free of corrosion and then work your way back on the wiring of the trailer fixing any exposed wire as needed. Also make sure the grounds of the lights are solid as well. I attached a help article on trailer wiring troubleshooting as well.

  • Recommended 205/75-14 Tires for Off-Road Trailer
  • The tires you have on your trailer now have a radial ply construction which is great for long highway hauls but if you plan to go off-roading then you are going to want to switch to a bias ply construction which will still wok just fine on the highway but it has a stiffer sidewall that will be needed for going over bumps off-road. I recommend the ST205/75D14 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM1ST86 which is an excellent option that has an aggressive tread pattern for better traction off-road....

  • Gooseneck Hitch that Fits 1996 3500 Truck
  • We have really great gooseneck options for your 1996 GMC 3500 truck but none from Draw Tite that fit the crew cab model. The best option is the USA-made B and W Turnoverball part # BWGNRK1000. Many refer to the B and W hitches as being the best options around as they are well-made and easy to use compared to other options.

  • Recommended 7-Way Harness for 1995 GMC Sierra
  • We do have what you need to install a fully functional 7-Way connector on your 1995 GMC Sierra, however there is not a plug and play 7-Way option similar to the 4-Way Harness # 118315 available for your truck. If you do not yet have a connector installed on the Sierra, you will actually want to start with the mentioned Tekonsha T-One Harness # 118315. This will plug into a factory port under the truck on the driver side. Once installed, I recommend using the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7...

  • Trailer Hitch for 1998 GMC C/K 3500 Cab/Chassis with Dual Rear Wheels
  • We've got you covered. The cab and chassis models did indeed have a 34 inch frame width. I'm not sure what kind of capacity you're needing, but because it's a dump truck on a 1 ton chassis, I'll give you a medium and a heavy duty option. For a heavy duty option with a 15000 lb towing capacity/1500 lb tongue weight capacity, I'd recommend the Curt Class V hitch, part # C15511. If you don't need quite that much grunt, Curt offers the Class IV # C14082 with a 10K towing/1000 lb tongue weight...

  • Recommended Air Bags for 1995 GMC C/K Series 3500 HD
  • For your 1995 GMC 3500 HD I recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL88216. These will help keep the truck level and provide additional support while towing or hauling. They also have internal jounce bumpers as a fail-safe if your air springs lose pressure. The air bags have a 5,000 lb load-leveling capacity, a lifetime warranty, and are made in the USA. I would also recommend adding an air compressor like the Air Lift Load Controller Compressor System # AL25854. This will allow you...

  • Recommendation For Towing Mirrors on a 1995 GMC 2500 HD Towing a 28 Foot Airstream Trailer
  • I have a few choices in towing mirrors for your 1995 GMC 2500 HD towing a 28 foot Airstream trailer. The CIPA Custom Towing Mirrors, part # 10201, and part # 10202, would be a good choice. These mirrors will slide over your existing mirrors and install without any tools. They are fully adjustable and do not obstruct your existing mirrors. The CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror, part # 11650, that you have referenced is also a good choice. It is a universal mount mirror and can mount on either...

  • The Timbren suspension kit part # TGMRCK35 that you referenced fits your 1995 GMC K3500 without drilling so it would be a great solution for you. It also would not interfere with an aftermarket sway bar either so it would work well in that regard too.

  • Parts Needed to Convert 4-Way of GMC Truck to 7-Way
  • Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how...

  • Tips for Finding Brake Controller Stoplight Circuit Wire in Truck
  • All you need for the red wire of your brake controller is a circuit that sees voltage only when the brakes are applied. If you wanted to run a wire to the fuse box to find a wire like you said that would work fine. Some people will also use the third brake light circuit as well. It almost sounds like you are running the blue wire of the controller to the stop light circuit if the brakes lock up when you tap them. Or your brake controller is just set too aggressively. I attached a help...

  • Coupler Lock Recommendation for a Bulldog Cast Coupler # BD4425000317
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Bulldog trailer coupler, # BD4425000317, to determine what the best lock for it would be. The best option would be a simple latch lock like # 2847DAT. This will prevent the latch from opening. I have included a link to a video review of the lock for you.

  • Helper Spring Recommendation for 1996 GMC Sierra K2500 Carrying Truck Bed Camper
  • When installed on an unloaded vehicle (no load in bed) there will be an approximately 1/2 to 1 inch gap between the Timbren Aeon spring and the axle tube. Once the bed is loaded with cargo or a slide-in camper, this gap will be taken up and the spring would be in direct contact with the axle tube. The Timbren # TUR350 you looked at isn't the correct fit for your 1996 K2500, you'll want to use # TGMRCK25 instead. The springs won't provide any lift, but will definitely provide up to 6000...
