Expert Answers about E-Track

  • E-Track Parts to Secure Rock Crawler on Deck Trailer
  • It is best to have E-Tracks like # E19148 installed in the direction of travel for securing a vehicle. The previous owner of the trailer may have had a specialized cargo application that required left-to-right positioning of the tracks. That's fine for tool boxes and equipment but for a 2-1/2-ton vehicle with a high center of gravity it is safer to have the wheel nets like # 77314 installed without twists or lateral tension. It's no big deal to make the minor modification needed. You don't...

  • What Straps do You Recommend for Wood and PVC Piping with My E-Track CargoSmart System?
  • If you transport light pieces of wood and PVC piping in your trailer and you already have an E-Track system installed, I recommend using the CargoSmart Adjustable Bungee Straps for E-Track and X-Track Systems - 16" to 24" - Qty 2 # 3481714. These straps simply snap into the E-Track anchor points.

  • E-Track Needed for 53' Length
  • For 53' of E-Track I recommend getting 2 of the etrailer # e42VR for Black Powder Coated or # e62VR for Galvanized. These kits come with 4 sections that are 8' long and while 2 of these kits will give you about 64' of E-Track, it's much more cost-effective to purchase in bulk and have some left over than to try to get the exact amount and maybe have just a little left over. These don't come with mounting hardware although there are pre-drill holes for mounting. Basically you'll just want...

  • Fastening E-Track to the Sides of an Enclosed Trailer
  • The screw holes on the E-Tracks are 1/4 inch in diameter and the E-Tracks are made of galvanized steel. Erickson does not recommend a specific type of fastener, so you can use any type of steel fastener, screw or bolt, that you wish. If you choose to use screws, be sure the underside of the head is flat and not curved so it sits flush on the E-Track. I also recommend using screws long enough to pass through the plywood and into the support beams where you can. This will provide the best...

  • Using CargoBuckle Part # IMF18800 Tie Down Straps with E-Track
  • You would need an e-track adapter, part # IMF14087 that would bolt onto the CargoBuckle tie-downs you already have. Two adapters are included, as well as the mounting hardware. The CargoBuckle tie downs that come with the adapters is part # IMF18800-87, if you should need more straps in the future.

  • Hardware Needed to Install etrailer E-Track on Trailer Floor
  • To install the etrailer Horizontal E-Track # e42VR to the floor of your trailer you need the E-Track Backing Plates w Hardware # e76YR which can be used to install the tracks on flooring up to 2" thick. If your trailer floor is thicker than that then you'll need to acquire longer hardware.

  • Recommendations for Securing Marching Band Equipment in Enclosed Trailer
  • Instead of securing your marching band equipment from the floor you could secure it from the wall using the Erickson Vertical E-Track # E19146. You can then use the Erickson E-Track Tie-Off w/ D-Ring # E59143 to provide tie-down attachment points or use a tie-down like the Erickson E-Track Strap with Ratchet # EM59136 that installs directly into the E-Track .I have also attached a link to our selection of accessories that are compatible with the E-Tracks that you can filter through. An...

  • Backing Plates and Wheel Nets for E-Track System
  • I have a solution for you, but the CargoSmart X-Track Cargo Organizer Pro Bundle # 3481788-P does not come with any backing plates, but you can add them with the E-Track Backing Plate # e96RR. You will need to drill new holes in this backing plate in order to make it compatible with the CargoSmart X-Tracks, but this is the only option we have available. While there aren't any wheel straps like the Pro Grip # 317-18900 that fit in the E-Track rails, you can use the Erickson E-Track Tie-Down...

  • Backing Plates to Use With E-Track System on V-Nose Enclosed Trailer
  • You're on the right track- the Brophy E-Track Backing Plate # BPEZ is what you'll want to use as a support plate under your E-track system like the Brophy # ET05 or Erickson # E19135. You'll want to use a backing plate at each end of the track and in the middle for the maximum support. Additionally, if the underside of your trailer is aluminum, you'll want to use a coat of paint or some other sort of insulating material to prevent galvanic corrosion between the two metals.

  • Recommended Storage Solution for Walls of Enclosed Trailer
  • If you're looking for wall storage, then the CargoSmart X-Track Trailer Shelf Bundle - Matte Black - Steel - 667 lbs - 5' Long # 3481788-T would be the correct solution and it will give you the ability to hang some hooks; if you can locate the studs in your trailer wall then you can attach the X-track directly to those. If you're unable to locate the wall studs then I do recommend using boards to provide a sturdier mounting spot. I definitely prefer the X-tracks for wall applications since...

  • Available E-Track Cargo Control Parts for Trailer Use
  • If you are referring to E-Track parts like # E19148 and the related accessories shown on the linked page these tracks can be mounted to many different surfaces. The thickness and material of the surface determines the type of hardware to use. We recommend two fasteners per linear foot per side on the track. So for example, a 2-foot length of E-Track # EM59150 would need no less than six fasteners. If you have something else please respond to this email with photos of your load bars and...

  • Anchoring E-Track On Floor Of Van For Transporting a Motorcycle
  • To secure the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # EM59150 you need to use the E-Track Backing Plates # e66RR to secure them to the floor. The screws can easily pull out of the plywood especially considering your van will be absorbing a lot of road shock. You will want to ensure that the plywood is also secured to the floor either with the backing plates or in another similar manner. This will ensure that your Harley stays secured to the floor and will not move. I recommend using the Erickson...

  • E-Track Parts to Secure Side By Sides and Dirt Bikes
  • You can install the etrailer Horizontal E-Track # e62VR and drive over it just fine with a vehicle as the tracks only sit 1/2" tall - then you can secure your side by sides with a tie-down kit like part # EM98CV you were looking at. To secure the front wheel of your dirt bikes I recommend picking up a few of the CargoSmart Motorcycle Wheel Chock # 3481731 as well as a few of the single E-Track connections # SLSZ since the wheel chock connection points won't be as far apart as what you'll...

  • Installing a Load Stop at Rear of 4 x 8 Foot Trailer
  • I have a solution that should work pretty well for you. I'd run a strip of E-track like # E19148 along the edges of the trailer, at least at the front and rear of the trailer. The E-track could be used to secure the lumber using a ratchet strap like # SLLS28RER. The straps are sold individually, so you'd want at least two. At the end of the E-Track, you could use a wood beam socket like # 59149 to secure a board like you have shown in the photo. The sockets are sold individually.

  • Can the B&W Biker Bar Be Used With an E-Track
  • Unfortunately there isn't an adapter that is going to let you mount the B&W Biker Bar Motorcycle Tie-Down System for Trailers # BWMC2301 to an e-track, you'd have to use the included mounting plates and anchors that are mounted to the underside of your trailer to install it.

  • Erickson E-Track Tie Down for a 33 Size Tire
  • Although we don't have any kits for a 33" tire you can use the 2" x 12' Erickson E-Track Wheel Tie-Down Strap # EM58523 along with the Erickson E-Chock Wheel Chocks # EM09162-2 to essentially create your own kit. The tie down strap has a safe working load limit (WLL) of 1,100 lbs and a maximum load (break strength) of 3,300 lbs. These install in the Erickson E-Tracks like part # E19148.

  • Recommended Parts For Adding E-Track Rails To Detail K2 Mighty Multi Utility Trailer # K2MMT4X6
  • I reached out to Detail K2 and they informed me they do not recommend making the tongue on their Mighty Multi Utility Trailer # K2MMT4X6 foldable. They said this will void all the trailer warranties. I recommend installing some etrailer Horizontal E-Track # e25VR on the floor of the trailer for attachment points. You will be able to fasten these to the underbed using the etrailer E-Track Backing Plates # e46RR. This will allow you to use a Tie Down Ring # 59131 with some traditional Straps...

  • Erickson E-Track Straps for Enclosed Trailer Transporting ATV
  • If you already have four E-Tracks mounted to the floor of your enclosed trailer and you wish to secure your ATV with only straps, not wheel chocks too, you certainly can do this. But instead of using the strap-and-chock kit # EM09160 you can use one of the E-Track strap-only items shown on the linked page, such as 2-inch x 12-foot ratchet strap # EM59136 which is rated for a working load limit (WLL) of 1165-lbs. We also have longer ratchet straps like the 16-foot # EM59139 with the same...

  • Recommended Crossbars for Yakima Top Tracks On an A.R.E Camper Shell CX Series
  • The Thule TracRac CapRac Ladder Rack for Camper Shell/Truck Cap # TH29200XT is not actually meant to be installed into top tracks. This crossbar system is actually meant to be installed in fixed points on your camper shell so it's not going to work with your Yakima tracks. Yakima does offer a complete system - # Y47CV which includes everything, but since you already have the tracks you'd just need the crossbars # Y00427, the landing pad # Y00221, and the towers # Y53TR. These bars and...
