Anchoring E-Track On Floor Of Van For Transporting a Motorcycle

Question:

I am transporting a 600# Harley in a high rise cargo van. I have a 3/4osb wood floor that I have layed down. The motorcycle will have a wheel cholk on the front tire. My plan it so run screws in every hole provided on the e track directly into the wood no metal supports to attach too. I plan to use the e track D rings to strap the bike down on each side. Can you tell me if this method will be safe and secure? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

To secure the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # EM59150 you need to use the E-Track Backing Plates # e66RR to secure them to the floor. The screws can easily pull out of the plywood especially considering your van will be absorbing a lot of road shock. You will want to ensure that the plywood is also secured to the floor either with the backing plates or in another similar manner. This will ensure that your Harley stays secured to the floor and will not move.

I recommend using the Erickson E-Track Tie Down Ring # 59131 with the ShockStrap Ratchet Motorcycle Tie-Downs # 297-7RSBB-M. These straps have shock absorbers to help absorb the road shock and reduce the stress on the straps.

The Erickson Motorcycle Wheel Chock # EM07506 is removable allowing you to still be able to place large items in the back of your van.
