The vast majority of trailer tires are made overseas. This means that almost any tire you buy will be about 6-months old at minimum. From the date of manufacture the tire will be stored for some period of time, then be loaded into a shipping container. It will then spend about 2 months in transit on the ocean/going through customs and then be stored in a warehousing facility here in the states.
Trailer tires should be changed, regardless of wear or mileage, no less than every six years.... view full answer...
Speed ratings will depend on the specific tire itself, as opposed to the load range. For example, if you were looking for a tire that was size 5.30R12 and wanted a speed rating higher than 65 mph I recommend checking out the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C which has a speed rating of 81 mph.
These are a load range C tire with a maximum capacity of 1,050 lbs at 80 psi.
I have added a link to a video review of this tire for you to take a look at. view full answer...
The plug on the end of the Tekonsha # 118243 that connects to the vehicle does indeed have 4 larger pins and 4 smaller pins. I included a picture of the plug end of the harness, but it isn't super easy to see the pins.
It should be noted that this will fit a 1999 to 2001 Ford F-250 and F-350, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Cab and Chassis, and the F-53 with the factory tow package. view full answer...
