There are several possible causes for the severe tire wear you are seeing on your Ford Focus. Tow bars in general are not easily released when on an incline or at an angle. It's just the nature of how they work. The angles and inclines bind the bars up of the tow bar in the base plate kit and make the components hard to release.

I looked up your WJ2 Stubby Westin bumper and since it has D-rings on the front of it that would be how you'd connect a tow bar to it. You will have to measure the diameter of the holes on them though to pick out correct adapter. If the hole is 1 inch in diameter you'd want the # BX88358 or if they are 7/8 inch you'd want the part # BX88357.
You'd have to use a Blue Ox tow bar with these though like the # BX7420 as there isn't an adapter for them so they can be used on a Ready Brute tow bar. view full answer...

I did some research and it looks like you can contact your local Ford dealership for a wiring kit, or another solution I saw people talking about is using bungee cords and wrapping them around the steering wheel and your driver's seat frame to keep the steering wheel taut to help prevent that death wobble.

You may realize this now, but you should never try to reverse a flat towing setup. Even short distances can be disastrous.

According to page 152 of the owner's manual for your 2013 Lincoln MKX by putting the vehicle in accessory mode it allows some electrical accessories to still operate even though the engine isn't running. I'm not sure what needs to keep running but since the manual doesn't say anything about disconnecting the battery I don't advise doing so as it would essentially be the same as turning your vehicle off.

Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple because not all FWD vehicles have transmissions that can be disengaged that will allow for flat towing. I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite and he said excessive turning could wear a groove into a hitch ball if the ball is not kept well lubricated. He recommended keeping the hitch ball well lubed with a lithium automotive grease like # 58117 to reduce friction. You will also want to check up inside the coupler for any debris that may be grinding away at the ball.

The Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Nissan Titan XD OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6200 have 4 wear pads that are 1/2 inch thick and 8 thinner shims that are 1/4 inch each. We do not carry the Duncan TowMatic II tow bar but in general if a tow bar's two arms are not symmetrical, meaning extended to the same length when you're pulling your toad behind the RV in a straight line, then there is likely to be an issue inside the one telescoping arm. Tow bars do require periodic maintenance and lubrication. Road grit and moisture can work their way into the arm mechanism and cause binding, such as what you're experiencing with the arm that does not fully extend.
