The Silent Act locking hitch pin you mentioned would most likely work with the Swagman XTC2 rack, but the threaded block would need to be removed from the shank of the bike rack. My Swagman representative tells me that they do not recommend using any other locking option than their locking hitch pin, part # S64029 because it is the only lock the rack has been tested with.

Since you already have a hitch, you can quickly determine if the Swagman Trailhead would be compatible with your VW Eos.
