I recommend to switch the existing hitch to the Draw-Tite instead of using an adapter because adapters cannot be used with weight distribution and they cut the tongue weight rating of the hitch in half.
The only Class III hitch available for the 2008 Ford Edge that is designed for the use of a weight distribution system is Draw-Tite hitch part # 75992.
