Trailer Hitch for 2012 Ford Edge to Use Bike Rack
Question:
I am looking to install a hitch on my Ford Edge, I am only wanting to use it for a bike rack. I see there are bumper hitches available and much more inexpensive. Do these work on the 2012 Ford Edge? It is not sport model. Thank you

While I can certainly understand trying to find the most cost-effective viable solution to carry bikes with your 2012 Ford Edge, a bolt-on bumper hitch like the Curt # E-3S is only designed to fit on trucks with step bumpers as it will bolt directly onto those.
There is a cost-effective solution for your '12 Ford Edge, the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch # E98870 which will give you a 2" hitch receiver so you can carry a bike rack, whether it is a cost-effective option like the Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack # S63360 or a premium option like the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Rack # TH92BJ.
The benefit of using a hitch-mounted bike rack is that you will have easier cargo access and it won't come into contact with your vehicle, though there is another option to consider if you are looking for the most cost-effective option, a trunk-mounted bike rack.
If you want to go this route I highly recommend the Yakima FullBack # Y02634 because of its premium anti-sway cradles which hold your bikes steady as well as its integrated security features which protect your investment. The FullBack's integrated cable lock secures your bikes to the rack and also has a steel-reinforced strap that stores inside your hatch to help keep it safely on the back of your car.
I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.
