  • Kia Soul Base Plate Fits for Various Model Years
  • Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # RM-522115-4 fits the Kia Soul with manual transmission for model years 2017 through 2019. For 2014 through 2016 model years a different crossbar style kit, EZ4 part # RM-522114-4, is specified. These will not differ much in terms of installation but the instructions for both are linked so you can review and compare and then decide for yourself. I also linked a helpful overview article on flat towing that covers all the essentials. This article...

  • Does Curt or Draw-Tite Hitch Have Better Ground Clearance for 2020 Kia Soul
  • The Curt # C67FR does have better ground clearance than the Draw-Tite # DT25GR for your 2020 Kia Soul. The reason you have to make a cutout for the Draw-Tite and not the Curt is because Draw-Tite decided to add a plate between the crossbeam and the receiver whereas the Curt has the standard downtube (see attached). The Curt instructions do call out using the Support Strap # 18050 for all non-trailer loads but this is something they are in the process of eliminating from their instructions....

  • Which Thule OutWay Fits 2011 Kia Soul
  • The part number TH991001 you referenced is a version of the Thule Raceway that is not sold in the US whereas the part # TH9001PRO is sold here and is a fit for your 2011 Kia Soul so it would be the way to go. These are both discontinued. The newest version of this line is the OutWay. It comes in a 2- Bike # TH45JV, a 3-Bike # TH56BV, and a Platform model # TH65JV. Take a look at the attached video to see all of the great new features. This line is the most popular and the absolute...

  • Best Affordable 3-Bike Trunk Mounted Rack for 2015 Kia Soul
  • It's better to have the capacity and not need it, than wonder "where will we put this third bike?" The extra weight capacity of the 3-bike version will also pay off in the long run since they're designed to be slightly sturdier than the 2-bike versions. The main downside is the extra length so keep that in mind when you're parking or backing into spaces with just the Kia Soul. As for choosing which one, first the Hollywood Racks Express # HRE3, while a confirmed fit, I do not recommend...

  • Comparing The Swagman XC2 Bike Rack To The Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack
  • The Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for 2 bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64650 and Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64670 are very similar, but the XTC2 is basically an updated and upgraded version of the XC2. The main difference is in the wheel hoops; the XTC2 has heavier duty hoops that raise the bikes higher up for more ground clearance. The wheel hoops on the XTC2 also have heavy duty rubber straps to secure the wheels, whereas the XC2...

  • What are the Differences Between the Malone Hanger and the Saris Bones?
  • One of the largest differences between the Malone Hanger # MPG2139 and the Saris Bones #SA805BL is that the Hanger can carry up to 3 bikes versus the 2 bike capacity of the bones. The Hanger also includes CAM buckle straps that are better quality than the nylon straps on the Bones. Lastly, the Hanger also comes with a security cable lock that is missing from the Bones. In light of these differences, you made a great choice with choosing the Hanger over the Bones for a bike rack for your...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for 2018 Kia Soul for Use with Draw Tite Class I Hitch
  • For Class I hitches like the Draw Tite part # 24915 which is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Kia Soul you have to go with the recommended ball mount by the manufactuer otherwise the warranty of the hitch is voided. So for your vehicle you have to use the ball mount # 3593 which has a 2-1/8 inch rise. For a 2 inch ball part # 19258 or for a 1-7/8 inch ball # 19256. If you need wiring then you'd want the part # 118637 which I attached an install video for.

  • What Does the LED /no LED Designation Mean When Choosing A Wiring Harness For The Kia Soul
  • The wiring harness option for LED bulbs is for the vehicle not the trailer. So you will be choosing a harness on whether the 2013 Kia Soul has LED lights or not. When you click on the harnesses available you'll notice that some are the same for LED or non-LED. For example, the Tekonsha # 118637 is confirmed to work with or without LED lights. The plug-in location is behind driver and passenger side tail lights. If you don't already have a trailer hitch and ball mount to tow a trailer,...

  • What are the Differences Between Roof Bag on Naked Roof and Roof Rack Mounted Bag?
  • Apart from how the rooftop bags mount there is little difference between the cargo bags that go on the naked roof of your 2013 Kia Soul or one that attaches to a roof rack. To avoid having to put a pricey roof rack on your Soul, I strongly recommend going with a bag that mounts to your naked roof such as the Rightline Gear Sport 2 Rooftop Cargo Bag # RL100S20. This bag is waterproof, has 15 cubic feet of storage and is 44" long x 36" wide x 19" tall. You can mount the Rightline by running...

  • Comparing Swagman XC S64650 & Curt C18084 Platform-Style Hitch Bike Racks
  • Both the Swagman XC # S64650 and Curt C18084 platform-style hitch bike racks will fit the 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch made for your 2011 Kia Soul. Both also fit 2-inch hitches which makes them a good long-term choice for potential compatibility with other vehicles. For the XC you can use hitch and bike lock kit # S64031. This not only locks the rack and your loaded bikes but it also provides anti-rattle duty to eliminate most noise and motion from the rack. Between the two bike racks I...

  • Difference Between Trailer Hitch Receivers For 2013 Kia Soul
  • The two hitches that fit your 2013 Kia Soul - the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11110 and Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24839 - are very similar. Sportframe is just what Draw-Tite calls some of their hitches, so it really means that it is a Class I or II hitch (in this case a Class I). The Curt is also a Class I and the only difference between the two is we found the Draw-Tite had better bumper and ground clearances when we installed both on a '13 Kia Soul. Because of...

  • Affordable Bike Rack Options for a 2012 Kia Soul with a 1-1/4 Trailer Hitch
  • When it comes to hitch mount bike racks there are 2 styles to choose from, platform and hanging. The platform style lets you rest the bike in some sort of cradle and the typically has a ratcheting arm that secures the bike. The hanging style uses arms with cradles that you rest your bikes on. In the platform category we have the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack # C18085 which has a very basic design and has a ratcheting arm that secures the bikes by their frame. It has tilt away and folding features...
