As far as using the Adapter 7 Pole to 4 Pole # 47345 as an adapter then you would not have a problem using it with your 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan unless the trailer has LED lights. Because LED lights use such little power it can cause a bulb out error to appear and the lights on the trailer may not work. You would instead use adapter # C35FR to avoid that issue.
